End of the Brazilian dominance?

Gotta love these threads popping up, when not that long ago you were complaining about the Brazilians and their nationalism getting out of hand.

Double standard much?

I'm brazilian, but when did brazilians dominate the ufc?

Gus, Khabib and Machida are coming.

The belts wont stay long with the Americans... except for Pettis who will come up with a dozen injuries.

Jose Aldo is the only Brazilian fighter holding the UFC belt. Others holding the belt are: Johnson, Dillashaw, Pettis, Hendricks, Weidman, Jones, Cain.

That list also shows the biggest problem, 7 out of the 8 belts are held by Americans (8 out of 9 if you include Honda). Will Americans dominate the UFC the next ... years? And if so, do you guys know why? Is it because most events are held in America (home adventage), is it because the sport is the biggest in America, or is it because the sport is so dwarfish in the rest of the world?

Where your from doesn't mean shit. Those guys are just better fighters then what Brazil has now, and I do mean NOW. When I was a kid, the idea of a foreigner holding the HW boxing title was ridiculous. Now? The idea of anyone but the Ukranian bros having it seems ridiculous. Just because we are on top now doesn't mean we will be when your kids are older. People have short memories in sports. One minute it's a Brazillian dominated sport and then the next, even though they produced some of the best fighters we've ever seen, they all suck. They were overrated. No, that's never the case. An fighter who happened to be American had their number. I wanted Rashad to keep the LHW title for a long time, I liked his style. He lost it the next bout to a Brazillian. Is Rashad a shitty fighter? No, he just got caught by another great fighter. This is about fighters, not the countries. You wanna root for countries go watch soccer. I like Gus because he's an awesome fighter. I like Anderson because he's one of the GOAT's. Brazil will have champions and so will we and everyone else. That's the difference between MMA and NFL,NBA, and MLB. When a UFC champion declares he's world champion it's because he's beaten fighters from around the world.

Great post

'Murican dominance....pffffffffft

Insert *werdoom face*

i don't understand why everyone seems to be willing the end of Brazilian dominance... is it just a nationalistic pride thing?

i honestly don't even think about where a fighter is from when they are fighting.

Butthurt americans over the you will die chants

Not quite. I believe Renan will come back and Solve Dillachida. He will then forfeit the belt and move to FW for the good.

Aldo and Mendes could go any way.

I dont think there was ever a brazilian dominance...i think at best brazil was even in the belt count, and thats not counting rondas belt...

I'm almost in tears, so much awesome.

In all honesty the US has dominated for quite some time. Even when the champs were roughly 50/50 there were still significantly more American fighters in the top 10, including multiple divisions where 8 or 9 of the top 10 guys were Americans.

I couldn't care less, America is awesome too*, patriotism is all good in my book too. It's what keeps countries together, without it countries would fall apart and they would get conquered by...unified patriotic countries or would revert back to tribal affiliations.

Aggressive blind patriotism is dumb and dangerous though. Like, yeahhh let's invade Iraq for freedom and democracy, and to protect America lol.
which is different from, lets protect our country from someone who is actually doing bad stuff against us like the japanese against america, or nazis torpedoing brazilian ships.

*I'm pretty sure we would still have things like computers or space flight without the USA, since they both started in Europe but would we have that much internet porn and hamburgers? Both are great.

It goes in waves. Watch, if a few Brazilians win belts again people will be saying the opposite.

It has always been a split between Brazilians and Americans anyways, they are by far the most numerous fighters in the UFC.

Maybe I should have used an expression you'd understand.

King me.

Kids over here playing checkers, I'm playing chess.

You're playing chessing against yourself though. Plus you're making yourself look like a complete ass. LMAO.

That's why I said that. Nearly every Scandinavian that I know is a hipster with this view on the world. "Ohhh it's not right to feel patriotic.", "Patriotic people are retarded." and stuff like that. It's sad, they've been PCd and feminized beyond belief. I call all hippies and hipsters commies :icon_chee

Makes sense. Dutch are supposed to be openminded. Glad we're not as feminized as the Swedish though, terrible place.

it's the end of 'em and the start of viking domination. Conor at FW, Gunnar at WW, TJ at BW, Gus at LHW.

All the big events are held in America and Brazil. Most Americans support American fighters (USA, USA, USA chants) and most Brazilians support Brazilian fighters. Haven't you noticed some hostility against non-Brazilian fighters in Brazil? I'm from Holland, we have no freaking fighters that count. But when Struve fights I support his huge ass. Don't tell me what to watch and how to watch it. If I want to watch football I watch football, if I want to watch MMA I watch MMA. I don't watch MMA because it has so many Dutchies in it because hasn't. So your argument is ''FAIL''.

All I notice is that Americans are dominating the sport right. Having 8 out of the 9 UFC belts sort of confirms that. And now MMA is as big the USA as it has been in Brazil for a long while, I think the AMericans will dominate it.
