So the other day at work one of the delivery guys comes in and starts up a conversation with an older lady I work with. I'm within 5 feet so I can hear everything they are saying. Conversation starts out fairly normal, then I hear him mention he is an MMA fighter. This catches my interest, so I ask him where he trains and he lists a few different places he bounces around between. I tell him I train also and mention the gym I go to, which in this city is fairly well known, but he reacts as if he's never heard of it (ok, that's possible). He immediately responds that he is 28-2 overall with a 9-0 record as a pro. At this point my skepticism is triggered, but I let it go. He continues to talk to the old lady and I go back to pretending to work. Few minutes later in the conversation he says he used to play football.....in the NFL. He goes on and on about how he played for 2 seasons for the Cowboys and 1 for the Cardinals before retiring. He said he was drafted as a QB but ended up playing Free Safety. He goes on to say that he was shot in the knee outside a nightclub with Michael Irvingand his knee recovered with surgery and drinking milk. At this point I excuse myself to go to the bathroom. While I'm away, I do a quick google search of his name...and I come up with nothing. I can't find anything confirming any of the stories, and I feel dumb for even looking at this point. So now that I've had a chance to reflect on how bizarre it is that a person would lie about something so easy to verify, I'm wondering why? Is he hiding a terrible past? Does he get a kick out of telling lies? Or does he actually believe that he did all of this stuff? Has anybody ever encountered a person like this, if so what was the result? Did they end up being harmless, or should I alert everyone we are dealing with a crazy person? TL;DR Delivery guy shows up Claims he is an ex-nfl player/9-0 pro mma fighter None of this is verifiable via the internet Am I dealing with a crazy person?
