https://globalnews.ca/news/6140131/...e-its-new-headquarters-after-leaving-calgary/ Encana is a major Canadian energy company that recently announced it will be relocating its headquarters to Denver Colorado, citing a 'hostile' environment to the energy sector in Canada. This move has bolstered Alberta's movement, dubbed 'Wexit', toward secession from the Canadian state. My response is as follows: The climate heroes of B.C. have dealt yet another devastating loss to Alberta's planet-destroying contingent whose governing ideology at this point is belligerent petulance. As a British Columbian, Alberta's exit from Confederation means nothing to me and has absolutely no effect on my life whatsoever. Allow me to explain. In Canada, we have a system known as equalization payments wherein 'have' provinces (provinces that make enough money to ensure their social programs meet a national standard) have their wealth redistributed by the federal government to 'have not provinces' so that the have not provinces can ensure their social programs meet the national standard. In simpler terms, the government takes our money and hands it over to a bunch of ungrateful cunts that then get stinky that we won't let them take a giant shit on our doorstep by increasing tanker traffic in our port. Alberta's desire to increase the pipeline capacity is based on magical thinking. There's no demand for their product and they believe that flooding the market with something there is no demand for will somehow create demand for it. Basically, Albertans got the sads that their economy is at the mercy of OPEC and want to shit on the much better province of BC to make themselves feel better about being in the toilet. Well, since we are also a have province like Alberta there is literally no incentive for us to assent to their destruction of our coast. Also, we are more populist province. Alberta is pushing Wexit because they are salty about the federal election. Good. Get out. I'll help you pack your bags. TLDR version: This modified quote from the documentary about my disciple Conan the Barbarian sums up my thoughts on the subject: Khitan General: Conan, what is best in life? Conan: To crush the oil industry, see it driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their Albertans!
