Most people who don't want the lockdown to end are likely reaping the ridiculous unemployment benefits put in place AND working a side hustle. Imagine being threatened with having to go back to work making half of what you do for doing nothing. I'd be railing against reopening too. Whose idea was the $600 anyway? Smells like demorats.

Super honest. Probably the most honest post ever made.

Maybe the problem is 600 bucks being worth more than some peopels jobs.

Tbf while I was on leave collecting UI nothing was going into my 401k (and I have 1 to 1 company match for contributions). The extra pay is the right thing to do because under normal circumstances if I lost my job I would've been applying for new jobs the day I stopped working.

If I find out you are a Trumper and you started a thread titled "Let's be honest"...

Nah I think its mainly the people that work from home.

Their productivity went up and dont have to deal with any of the hostile work environment bullshit.

Or

They know some of their coworkers have the hygiene level of farm raised swine and will likely be a "typhoid mary" type carrier.

Also some people are afraid , they sit home and watch the news..

TS is 100% right. I know so many people back in Michigan making more $$$ on unemployment than ever before. I got a buddy laid off from a Hobby Shop pulling in almost 4k a month just sitting at home.

Lez be honest ..: you play monster hunter video games ... yikes lol

Finally got a haircut. My stylist has a 17 yr old and 19 yr old. Both are getting the $600 kicker and taking home $715 - $850 a week. Not bad for a kid who worked 15 hours a week prior at Dairy Queen and the other 20 hours in retail.

If they extend the $600 through Jan like Pelosi’s proposal things will get better. Derp

I've worked through the entire thing mostly at the office every day at a company that had about 20 diagnosed cases out of 100ish working employees at my location (factoring for people who couldn't work during the pandemic).

I'd like the lockdown to continue and SLOWLY open as it's safe with legitimate protocols in place.

There are just some of us who just don't want you plague rats to kill our loved ones.

I genuinely can't think of anything I am completely prohibited from doing that I'd otherwise be doing except for a haircut (which is genuinely not worth a health risk). I had restaurant food last night. I bought a grill last week. My closet/pantry/bar are all stocked. I can go for a hike in a state park a walk around the block. Work in my yard, rent a movie, etc...

What is it that you people imagine you're missing out on? Are casinos and strip clubs that big a part of your life?

I can only speak about my buddy who is definitely loving it. He is sitting home playing vid games and drinking every day while making more from unemployment then he did working. He will avoid going back to work by all means available to him. While the rest of us are dealing with these shitty times, he is living the good life.

I don't know how common that is but I can only imagine there are plenty others living it up that way too.

The people who had to close their business, probably miss their business.

Those unemployment numbers must be fake, since you didn't have to experience it. Just a bunch of selfish folks itching to go to the titty bar. Your analysis is airtight.

Meh. It's a combination of people who are geniunly scared, lonely to begin with (this justifies them being inside all the time) and very easily scared.

In NY and NJ you are required to apply for jobs while collecting unemployment. You guys should look into something like that.

Has your political tribalism gotten so bad that you now hold the erroneous belief that supporters of President Trump are incapable of any sort of act of honesty?

If that's the case, then you truly don't oppose President Trump or any of his supporters. You oppose a non existent caricature of President Tuump and his supporters that exists only in your mind.

Bullshit... 4k a month?

You guys are going to have to pick a point you want to make. OP is saying it's only lazy layabouts on unemployment that want to keep things shut down, and you're saying everyone on unemployment is clamorous to get back to work. Well which is it, because it can't be both.

For the record I agree far more with your opinion. I'd bet most unemployed people are starting to get pretty antsy about getting back to work.

Also, I expect the unemployment numbers are completely accurate. That's got nothing to do with OPs post or my point. There are jobs. My company is hiring. Waiters and bartenders are probably going to have to adapt to the new reality the way film developers and coal miners did.

I'm not sure exactly what closed businesses you are talking about. It's barber shops, amusement parks, casinos, and titty bars. Yes, many other businesses have to operate in a limited capacity, and that's unfortunate. It's not so unfortunate that I can think of any of my loved ones I'd risk killing to open in full capacity.

If you open to every restaurant in the country to full 100% operations tomorrow that won't restore those businesses anyway because there are many many many people who wouldn't go sit in one. I'm only slightly comfortable having a bag of takeout handed to me in the parking lot of one of these places.
