not really.
the day after the NYT published its initial account of the story (which focused in part on how the Twittersphere was alight with righteous outrage), the rest of it came out.
by "the rest of it", i mean the part where it was revealed that a small group of black Israelites instigated the confrontation with the boys from Covington Catholic High School.
i can't speak for the entire body of the MSM, but over at the NYT and NPR, the next-day followup reporting took the wind of the sails in Twitterland (Kathy Griffith and Alyssa Milano not withstanding).
absent the actual reporting done by the MSM, this story probably would have sustained itself for months - because even though Twitter is fun, its not really journalism as i know it.
