One of the main players in the group that bought the ufc is Ari Emanuel, CEO of the william moris endevour (WME-IMG)... now here is the part i didnt know: His brother is actually Rahm Emanuel, Chicagos current mayor.
Now this is interesting for many reasons, such as the ufc having deeper conections in the gov that could influence such things as the ali act being implemented or not in mma and things like that.
Maybe this is obvious for americans but i guess not for everybody, but still here is an interesting article i came across on Rahm talking about his brother buying the UFC :

Put 'em in the octagon?
Mayor Rahm Emanuel famously grew up in a family with two brothers, constantly vying for parental attention and sniping at each other. So perhaps it’s no surprise that the mayor couldn’t help but take a bit of a swat at his younger, super-agent brother Ari Emanuel on Tuesday, the day after his WME/IMG agency acquired the mixed martial arts promotion UFC for a reported $4 billion.
Emanuel's swipe about his brother’s new purchase came after he toured 2112, a music and technology business incubator in a former warehouse space in Portage Park. Emanuel celebrated the operation's one-year anniversary by cutting the ribbon on a film and video production and photography expansion.
“I know I’m going to get in trouble for this: I hope Ari, my brother, doesn’t find out about it, or he will be buying this thing in no time,” Emanuel said of the music incubator. “It’s a joke. I know I’m going to get in trouble now. It’s a joke, guys, he spent all his money on UFC. He asked my parents for whatever they had. That’s a joke too.”
If nothing else, it's a change of pace from the mayor having to defend himself against allegations he was going soft on city ride-sharing rules because Ari Emanuel has a stake in Uber. (Bill Ruthhart)
