I'd say Elvis Presley. He changed the face of music really. Made rock and roll mainstream and blazed a trail for others to follow.

Worldwide it's defiantly MJ. You could probable play his music in a remote village in South East Asia and have people singing along.

    Michael Jackson

Maybe partly due to recency bias, I don't think kids these days know who Elvis is

    Michael Jackson without question.
Mike owned the Beatles catalogue and fucked Elvis daughter.
    Mike wins.

    It's close.

I voted MJ, but almost anyone born before the mid 1970s will disagree.

Elvis is the bigger icon but Michael was the better singer, performer and has the better catalog of music.

I'm going with Michael.....he also had a cool video game back in the day called Moonwalker

Elvis took Black music, so how weird that it should be taken back by Michael Jackson, who became a White woman.

    (That's a Ving Rhames joke.)

MJ is the bigger global star I'd wager. Although I could be underselling Elvis in that regard.

    Bigger icon

Bigger artist, Michael all day. As far as icon, in the sense of timeless larger-than-life icon, like Elvis, Beatles, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe etc - MJ may have 'ruined' that possibility with the dual misfortune of both becoming weird and creepy-looking (like, actually repulsive), and having his reputation dragged through the gutter in the worst way.
Time will tell if his image can recover.

Out of respect for his artistry i'll post a song from when he was still natural and beautiful, also happens to one of his (many) best

Because its in this subsection that no one goes too.
Put this in Mayberry or go look at any other poll and MJ wins

Anyone who said Jackson know nothing about music at all, or music history. Jackson is nothing compared to the likes of Elvis, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, etc.

My vote goes to Elvis. But, then again, I'm biased. I grew up a massive Elvis fan.
I think a hundred years from now though when music history is taught to children more time will be spent on Elvis than Jackson & he'll be remembered as the more seminal, influential artist. Of course, Jackson will be much more than a footnote but still, Elvis will be remembered as being more important.
