Why doesn't the UFC convert the octagon walls to the same kind of plexi-glass that they use in the NHL? It would entirely eliminate fighters being able to grab the fence and the crowd would get a much better view of the fight.

Blood splatters and smears as well as some awesome through the glass action.

Why not just get rid of the cage all together? so people stop grabbing the fence when they're pushed up against it.

That would be a cell then not a cage

I think it is a good idea, except getting slammed against it would be really bad.

It should just be a solid wall, not transparent glass. This sport is too violent to watch.

This puts your other posts into perspective.

They should just have someone on the outside of the cage with a yardstick

That person smacks the shit out of your knuckles when you grab the cage

Problem solved

Why not one of those invisible fences like they use for dogs and then the fighters could just wear a shock collar.

The only logical way to solve this problem is to make the fence wired with 10,000 volts of electric shock. That will teach these cheaters to quit grabbing the damn fence!

It's practically legal right now.

lol dude that shit still breaks from time to time.. and there would be way more constant impact on specific areas considering theres only 8 sides compared to a hockey rink.. those pieces hardly get hit over 10 times a match and get replaced if worn down before the next game. not constant impact for 10+ fights on the same piece.

The only replacement to a cage is for it to be in some kind of pit with the crowd viewing down onto the "pit" . the walls would have to be some kind of thick padding with some sort of give to mimmic the fence but not allow it to be grabbed.

So pretty much it will never happen. They just have to start deducting points faster and more often for infractions

It all comes back to the 10 point system. Refs are hesitant to deduct points because of how it can impact a 3-round fight, so give warning after warning instead.

How about a Thunderdome..and Goldie and Rogan hand random weapons to the fighters when they near..like 2 x 4s nunchuks and giant rubber shlongs..

deducting points faster would be good, or redesigning the gloves
