Simple yes or no with a brief explanation on why. I'm in a debate with a friend and wanted to poll the Shertards.

Fo sho

2-0 in SBs vs Tom Brady and the Cheats

There was a pretty good thread about this a while back. Most thought he was a HOF'er, even though he often plays like a total can.

This seems to be one of the most popular Sherdog threads.

I'd say yes.

short answer: no
long answer: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Meh, idk. His #'s during his two SB runs were really good though. Especially his 2011 run.

2x Super Bowl MVP
3x Pro Bowl
Most road playoff wins ever
Should be top 10 all time in passing yards and touchdowns this year.

He will get in, despite his bad seasons.

Yes. I've said my rule on here before about HOF, it has to be a no doubter, if I have to think about it, it's no. Eli is a no doubter imo.

No doubt for a guy who has led the league in interceptions in 3 different seasons?

I think Eli is a really weird case because he has been so up and down. If you look at his career stats on their face, its not overly impressive. Below 60% completion, 270 TDs to 189 INTs, 82 career rating.

But then you put in his SB runs and it changes the game.

Eventually, sure. In no way should he be a first ballot though.

Another thing he has going for him is the consecutive games started. I know that doesn't really mean anything stats wise but I think it's quite impressive.

I can't answer that now. Hopefully at the end of his career I can without a doubt say yes. I love Eli.

to be HOF, you have to be regarded as one of the very best in the league

Eli has NEVER been considered one of the top QBs in the league. He's a mediocre QB who somehow managed to put together 2 postseason runs.

I know passer rating has issues, but still it is telling. How many times has Eli been in the top 10 in passer rating? ONCE. In 2011 he ranked 7th(!) in passer rating. That's it.

in comparison Peyton has been top 10 in passer rating for 15 straight years, Brady for 13 total years, Brees 10 total years, Rodgers 8 total years

Romo is a good comparison as well. He has far better career stats than Eli, but Eli gets the nod for rings.

Hes such a weird QB.

Equivalent of saying you think a fighter won a split decision. Either he is or he isn't.

Nope, there's a clear distinction between first ballots and guys who have to wait a few years.
