Elephant tusks are getting smallerwith each generation. to the point where many are born sans tusks...

Is this a tell-tale sign of evolution!?

This is a great article for those on the fence about their worldview...

Fuck. Looks like I'll never finish my piano build.

This is actually just an example of artificial selection (which is actually Natural Selection when performed by man un-intentionally) and is the exact same thing that's able to be demonstrated with every domesticated breed of animal ever, as well as basically all edible plants.

It's very interesting, but it's not going to change anyone's world view because A) it's nothing new and B) the worldviews stories like this have the potential of changing don't rely on what this discovery provides.

the elephants are actually getting much smarter.

they realised dickheads kill them for their tusks. their response, control the growth of their tusks to try and not get shot.

It is obvious to me that god let all the long tusked elephants die and then replaced them with short or no tusked elephants

Which is evolution. Evolution is just trait-seeking that helps a species survive.

Obviously elephants are evolving to look more like Lord Ganesh

We are also seeing the evolution of man. We now have men who are dick less. We call them male feminists.

I wish Mammoths still existed

I just saw a documentary about scientists in Korea (I think) that want to clone then from the DNA they've scavenged from frozen mammoths.

Apparently, the mammoth tusk trade is big black market business in Russia. That's pretty much all I got from the documentary.

Maybe they've still got tusks, but just tuck them in when humans are around. Kind of like how non thuggish people do when they go to a rough area?

Doesn't always work though:

Pseudo science isn't going to convince many 'round these parts, TS.

All elephants are born without tusks. Tusks are teeth that grow out over time. The ivory trade targeted elephants with the largest tusks so the elephants with smaller tusks were left to breed so tusks get progressively smaller. As has been said, it's a case where man has had an effect on evolution.
