electronic muscle stimulation (EMS)

$830 , I could buy a year's membership @ my Muay Thai gym and some gear for that money. Honestly, looks like another one of those gimmicks; like the sauna belt or something. I'm not willing to gamble $800 of my hard-earned money, I don't think you should either.

Dont be lazy build muscle the hard way and save money.

Here's my take on it...

If these things work SO well and they require NO effort...then everybody would be doing it...but um...yeah...it doesn't work that way...

It's like these "get rich quick" things you see on TV...well, why the hell isn't everybody a millionaire by now...?

I actually tried an cheap one and it does work sorta.

I know it was working because I used it on my abs and I was sore for three days.
The thing is it's not as easy as it sounds.
I figured I could put the thing on everyday while I was on my computer and I would have ripped abs in a week.
But it's really distracting when your abs are contracting 120 times a minutes. It hurts after awhile too.
In the end it's just easier to go do some sit-ups.

I had one of those Ab Energizer knock offs. It was like $10 at the swap meet.

I saw a movie where a guy used one of those machines, then died a mysterious death at a relatively young age.

Yeah, umm, Bruce Lee lol. Thats whay I posted this thread in the 1st place. He used to use such a device, but on his whole upper body.

I remember that movie, and enjoyed it until the sex scene came on and my friend commented that it was a reenactment of the process of my parents creating me.

For the dense: Yes, I have an asian father and caucasian mother :)

the threadstarter is WAY behind the times. They use to show ads for these devices all the time several years ago but then 20/20 proved that they were useless.

they are used for recovery, not a workout. bodybuilders, injured people, and athletes in general use them for warm up or post workout injury prevention. i use them all the time

I bought one to rebuild some muscle in my leg that was fucked after a having OS since i was a kid. The re-hab doc. was charging me $20 a session for a few minutes a day with this thing, and according to him I needed months of this. I figured it would be cool to have one at home so I just bought (more money that brains at this point in my life). They do work, but they'll hardly make you more athletic, just a bit more toned (tension in muscle).

Exercise > machine, IMO.

DOMS- Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is generally accepted as NOT being a sign of muscle "Growth", so just because you feel sore, doesn't mean you are getting the desired bodybuilding effect.

I got one for a few quid off ebay and used it when i was too busted up from Rugby to train, it was more to prevent catabolism than actually get "buff". Don't realy know if it worked much. I know BBers use it for theraputic uses.

Do some sit ups and stop being lazy. It won't help build more muscle, just tone what you have. You might as well just get a sauna suit, take a protein shake and do some aerobics, it'll save you a lot of money.

But wait...Stacy and I haven't had kids yet....

Son?.....SON?!

I bought one in maybe 1996. It's good for what it's suppose to do - tone muscles. I used to have a really nice and hard 6 pack.

i have been using a compex sport for awhile now since my job requires me to travel 1 hour each way to work and that machine works good if it flexs your muscle and you feel the lactic acid build up then i have to ask how is it not working but i wont argue it i got care if you use it or not but i your interested go to hammer nutrition and check it out they have a forum with lots of questions and answers about the machine and it also works great for sore muscles after a fight on the ride home
