Is there any merit to these things actually promoting joint health or are they just crutches used to lift more weight? Anyone swear by these?

My knees certainly feel better now than they did when I didn't wear knee sleeves.

My knee sleeves help when lifting for sure. Think the science behind it Is they keep the joints warm

They help keep the joint warm and probably add a few pounds to your squat, but that’s about it. If you have healthy joints, they don’t make any difference other than maybe helping you lift more weight.

I haven’t put knee sleeves on in over 5 years and my healthy knees continue to be healthy. All my biggest squats have been bare knee.

For tendinitis in my elbows/biceps, I always preferred compression cuffs way more than sleeves.

Is this something that sits tightly at the point of injury vs just being a sleeve? I see Slingshot makes them. Elbow health is my main reason for inquiring in the first place.

Yeah, they apply more compression to the area than sleeves will be able to.

Worked out in sleeves today for speed bench. Got the elitefts heavy sleeves. Felt good.

    That would make sense.

Just got full knee wraps on the elbows like Larry Wheels, bro.

“Nah, I just wear the elbow/knee sleeves for warmth. They don’t add anything to my lift.”

Got the elite FTS heavy knee sleeves too. By far the most comfortable ones I've worn. Knees felt good. Did some box squats and RDLs.

I like that you didn’t just include this in the post about the elbow sleeves.

    But booo to box squats.

Well yesterday was dynamic effort upper and today was max effort lower. And yeah I'm actually noticing knee pain from the box squats. Thinking I may switch to free squatting.

What don't you like about box squats? I don't have them in my program but it seems like they are fairly popular.

How's the meet prep going? Did you register for the meet?

It's going pretty well. I've doubled my squat and bench frequency to twice a week with a medium and heavy day. Still pulling once a week, but I'm trying to keep the volume low. I've been pretty sore after so I'm trying to increase my food intake a little bit to make sure I'm recovering well.

    Got deadlifts 3x3 tonight.

I'm definitely not cutting down to 105 in that time. I had been cutting, so I'll probably see myself weighing in somewhere around 250lbs by then. I definitely don't want to do this on a deficit.

Good thinking. As of now the only other 120 is doing bench only, do your fellow sherdoggers proud and out bench him.

That's my worst lift by far. I've hit 350 when I was a little bit heavier, but I haven't really gone over 300lbs in training. So I'm not sure where I'm at with that. Last session I did 300 for 3 sets of 3 and it moved really quick. I'm guessing if he's competing bench only he's probably going to put up way more than me lol

Of course all these numbers are from my local gym on those public gym bars and hex plates. So I'm not sure how much different it's going to feel when I get back on actual comp plates. For all I know my gym 45s aren't even accurate.
