El Cucuy will have needed a 11 fight winstreak to get a title shot.

Or a 12 fight winstreak if Nate goes next.

How crazy is that?

He got a title shot already at 223 (actually 2 if count the interim belt), too bad for him and for us he got injured.

Him and Khabib dropping out of fights just keeps pushing him down the road. If he can stay healthy, he should be in line for a shot shortly.

People are counting Pettis out way too quickly. He looked pretty good recently and match up well with El Cucuy.

He's not the favorite that's for sure but he's a live dog.

He could stop kicking steel posts and falling over cables? Maybe learn to deadlift? That might help.

His striking looked mediocre against Chiesa. He isn't letting his hands go and even his kicks look a bit sloppy compared to his peak, he fights like he's shot. He's not submitting Ferguson off of his back.

Pretty sure that Ferguson is overall just a class above and stylistically smashes Pettis regardless.

That's not exactly true, he has been given title shots, he just hasn't been able to make it to the cage.

Maybe this has something to do with conor holding the division up for 18 months?

It obviously sucks for Ferguson, but I don't get all that outrage. He was given a shot at both the interim and undisputed belts, paving the way to the biggest purse available in all of MMA : a fight against McGregor. He injured himself at the last minute in the weirdest and stupidest way possible, yet people act like it's absolutely insane and cruel that the division kept moving without him.

Whaaaaa, I had no idea. Pettis vs Ferg is on ?

That's a nice matchup. Pettis is shit nowadays but Ferg is coming off an injury so yeah, this can actually be a very decent fight. Pettis might even win.

Sucks for Ferguson but yeah, he's pretty much a victim of bad luck.

Otherwise there would have been 3 belts, 2 real ones and one interim. And that's 2 belts too many.

He should've kept the interim though. Stripping him was a dick move.
If he kept the interim, he will fight the Khabib McGregor winner. It's already for Khabib, but UFC doesn't want McGregor to have challenging fights.

Tony is the real champ.
He'd beat both Khabib and Conor.

Makes sense. If he beats Pettis and wins the rematch against the cable, he should get the winner of Conor vs Khabib.
