Just when Edgar has done everything to make sure you can't deny him any more, and Aldo gets starched, we're still gonna deny him in favour of a rematch, because what? Aldo MIGHT have been able to make it competitive or win? We don't know that though. He didn't, and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

What is the criteria for NO instant rematch? It can't be too close, but it can't be too quick, or is it a guaranteed rematch just because he hadn't lost for 10 years (1 fight a year)?

Aldo can get his rematch/shot no problem, but not immediately. Why rush the guy with head trauma in there while making Edgar wait even longer? I would also rather see the Edgar fight so I don't know where this "fight the fans wanna see" stuff is coming from

I see both arguments. I lean towards Edgar because the guy earned the fight by destroying Chad, but mostly because Aldo didn't put up a fight at all. If Aldo would have just done a little more. If he would have just given us one round of leg kicking Conor and showing his brilliance then I would probably feel differently.

Edgar.

9 years are the top = rematch.

Edgar got a gift title shot and came up short, the guy whohim beat deserves an attempt to avenge his only loss in about a decade.

While Edgar might be the more interesting fight, it's crazy to suggest the goat featherweight doesn't deserve a rematch after losing for the first time in a decade.

Actually averaged 2 a year not one.

Not amazing i know but he aint no cain.

Apparently the only criteria to not get an instant rematch is to be named Holly Holm. Dana all about the dollar, plain and simple. That's why Ronda is up next and not her...
Frankie deserves it, Aldo will most likely get it because it'll likely pull bigger numbers.

Edgar and his shady stupid arab manager should STFU already. Edgarr had his title shot at 145 andhe got his ass handed to him by the guy who most definetely deserves his immediate rematch, because of his accomplishments alone. Edgar should fight holloway for the next shot.

It will be Aldo, though it should be Frankie.

Both Dana and Conor will both want Aldo, knowing it will make loads of money and that Conor has a much better chance of beating him (again) and thus staying their cash-cow champ.

Only Frankie wants the fight!

If Conor proves healthy within the next few weeks then Edgar/Conor should be announced immediately or this is one of the greatest miscarriages of UFC justice ever.

Edgar got an instant rematch when he lost to Bendo.

You gonna complain about somebody like Aldo getting a rematch?

Exactly. Its such a stupid argument. Sure Edgar deserves a title shot, but not more than Aldo.

I completely understand Aldo getting an immediate rematch, but Edgar should be first. He's getting up there in age and has already been made to wait for far too long. Let Conor and Edgar fight at 200 and Aldo can get his rematch at the end of the year. If anyone should be waiting at this point, it's Aldo. He could use the time off anyways.

Tj got totally screwed worse than.

Dude took a replacement on 24 hours notice to save a card (no belt holder has done that in maybe ever) then lost a razor close decision and gets no rematch so faber can get his 6th annual title shot failure.

Well it's not like he lost for the first time in 10 years in a close fight, he got slept soon as he threw something. So let's pretend it was a fluke. Even then, how about letting Aldo rest his brain properly? Edgar can fight in the meantime

Simple edgar lost to aldo when he fought him for the belt.

Problems for Edgar taking TS:
1) Aldo
Problems for Aldo taking TS:
1) Pulled out of UFC 189
2) KO'd in 13 seconds

I think they should make Conor/Edgar. Let Aldo fight Max Holloway, winner gets Title Shot

Edgar has twice got a title shot coming off a loss. TWICE.

One of them off a two fight skid which is a ufc record. He is not hard done by.

Aldo hasnt got shit, hell they made an interim fw 9 months after his last fighy.

Truth is they both deserve it. That fact doesn't mean you have to argue that one doesn't. It just means a deserving fighter is gonna have to wait. Arguing "but they deserve it" doesn't change this reality.
