Too bad it is a business and he doesnt sell. Sucks to be a little guy on the fringe of a championship (UFC one, not WEC or any other).

And here comes all the people going, "well, you signed the contract!

A lot of people on here don't seem to realize that these guys are putting their body through insane amounts of punishment all the time to make a living by getting in a cage and fighting. Just like everybody, they want to have their career and make their money and be able to retire comfortably and not have to worry about not having enough money to live off of.

This is "the fastest growing sport in the world" and these guys are going out there and competing against the best fighters on the planet and so many of them are being treated unfairly in terms of pay.

It's almost as if some fans think that these fighters are simply just doing this as a hobby. They are doing this to make their living just like everybody else is with their own career, what ever that may be.

For these guys to put their body's through so much punishment in the gym and in the cage for years and years, become a top guy and stay competitive at the highest level and still not make that much but you got some other guy who is just a good talker making 50x more.. it's fucking criminal.

    It's all favoritism.

I understand that one guy will sell more than the other, but just because one guy sells more than the other, it doesn't mean the guy who doesn't sell as much should be ripped the fuck off and treated as a peasant who is being given a couple nickels and dimes here and there after so much hard work while the other guy is being paid dollars for every word he says.. it's ridiculous.

Look at Chael Sonnen - that guy used PED's how many times and quit quite a few times in fights because he was put in a bad position.. but he was being paid way more than some of these guys who are so much more skilled and worked so much harder, naturally, and they're being ripped off.

It's disgusting and you guys know it.

I don't know how much Wineland makes, but the guy has been around for quite a while, is pretty fun to watch in my opinion, has been a top dog for a while and fought for major titles and the fact he needs another full time job to get by while fighting in the biggest MMA organization in the world.. that's pretty crazy in my opinion.

It's his own fault he didn't make enough out of his career to retire or own his own home

I see his point... but it isn't rational.

Of course the UFC is going to care about the bottom line, it's a business. Jon Jones has a much higher market value than Eddie Wineland, that's just the way it is.

And no one is holding a gun to your head to compete. That's just how it is. You can't choose a career then complain that it's not making you enough money.

I fail to see how his grievances about fighter pay and Jones' positive test have anything in common.

He just used that as an excuse to vent off. But he is 100% right.
