I'm the biggest guy in my gym and all I do is pull guard. Its way more fun anyway. I like Eddie's take on things though. From the vids I've seen he is really into talking about the big picture and developing a game and learning concepts, etc.

lol nice i recently had the chance to attend one of eddies private seminars and i must say that aside from teaching some amazing techniques, i got the most out of his ideas on BJJ and grappling. he gave some similar speeches during the seminar that really put every thing into perspective. he is gifted in his ability to teach and he has an analogy for everything that makes what he says stick in your head. plus he is fucking hilarious he had most of the guys cracking up the whole time.
it is nice to hear this being addressed with a little more detail than the overused "leave your ego at the door" myth we all have heard so much it has become meaningless. bravo is spot on in everything he said, yet he himself will note the sparring sessions after his classes at 10th planet are what he calls "abu dhabi night". once in a while, before rolling, my instructor will try to remind us that we should be practicing technique, to go light if you can, and help your partner. we all nod in agreement, then proceed to go to a balls-to-the-wall tapping contest. the ego beats all of us.
he is a very interesting guy. I just got his book mastering the rubber guard and his style of teaching really works for me. the moves really flow together well and he does a great job of illustrating that. i haven't had a chance to roll since buying the book, but i will tonight... we'll see if my ego is bruised or inflated afterwards...
