It's probably been mentioned before, but Eddie now holds victories over

The last Dream LW champion - Shinya Aoki (who is also the current One Fc champion, Thanks @NoBiasJustMMA )

The last Strikeforce champion - Gilbert Melendez

The last WEC champion - Anthony Pettis

He left bellator as the Champ with a victory over the current Bellator champion - Michael Chandler

You could Also make a case for him being the lineal Pride LW champ

Gomi - Sergey Golyaev - Eiji Mitsuoka - Kazunori Yokota - Kawajiri - Aoki - Eddie - Cerrone - Dos Anjos - Eddie

Is Eddie technically the unified lineal LW champion?

Sure.

But this guy is still the LW goat imo.

idk about lineal champ, but hes clearly a top #5 lw of all time (easily argued to be top #3). Dude has been elite for a long time and has a great list of accomplishments

The sum parts of his face wouldn't be able to withstand this.

I have respect for Eddie but im not a fan tbh, I cant seem to warm to him.

He's the UFC champ so sure he's the best lw now. But not of all time,BJ penn holds that spot. A lot of people here remember and a lot never really knew - the fireball kid in his prime was smashing guys in pride.

He doesn't need a resume, he just needs this highlight reel

I can also serve as his acting reel, to play the part of "Human Meat Grinder"

Or it can be an advertisement for Beverly Hills MMA titanium chin surgery.

He should be considered the lineal champ. Even his Bellator belt (the last real one for that division), he lost it to cerrone, rda took it from him to unify and Eddie took it back on Thursday.

Conor would be calling eddie daddy by the time he was through with him. Hed be panic wrestling and tapping shortly after the first bell.

Cool gif.

Eddie Alvarez has a solid resume and definitely up there in the LW Greats discussion.

Yeah Alvarez is a beast and definitely one of the best lightweights ever. Not the best yet, but one of the best for sure, and he's still got plenty of career left.

I think his record makes him look better than he is. He's good, but no better than that. Chandler, Melendez & Pettis were ALL split decisions - if they go the other way then he doesnt look very good at all. His 'fight' with Pettis was the worst example of wall&stall I've ever seen.

Very similar to the Johny Hendricks - he mugged decision wins over Koscheck & Condit. Over time, his record evened out - Alvarez's will do the same
