Quote was obviously before the fight. Props to Eddie who fought tough but hopefully Cowboy starts to get some respect. It seems like fighters and fans alike like to detract from his wins and skills.

Cowboy hat or not, I think he is the perfect recipe for a fan favorite. He wants to fight often, exemplifies the anytime anywhere attitude. Will fight anyone regardless of rankings. He has an amazing chin and usually stops people in brutal fashion. What's not to like about that?

Full quote:
"I think [Cerrone] is a little past a mediocre Muay Thai fighter, with a good mind of MMA," says Alvarez. "Stripping everything else away, the cowboy hat and everything else, the fans thinking that he's God -- it's unbelievable what they think of this guy -- my own assessment of him, my real assessment as a fighter, I understand what he's good at, I understand what he's weak at, and I'm going to go in the cage, I'm going to move, I'm going to find my openings, and I'm going to do something special."

Well Eddie found out which one of them was actually mediocre

Well, when I was taking Muay Thai class there was an 18 yr old that weighed a buck 50. I had to hold pads with him and he kicked like freaking horse. He would be average, I guess, shit still hurts. His leg now knows.

I thought him vs gil would be competitive............i was wrong

cowboy was a bad match-up. Eddie will do just fine vs all the others. I think 145 is still his place

It went from Eddie being a bad matchup for Cowboy, gonna box Cowboy up, take him down at will to Cowboy is too big, Alvarez belongs at 145, etc...

Bellator is not as good as the UFC, period.

you have to tip your cap to cerrone. he's always been a tough SOB that just went forward no matter what was thrown at him. he showed some improved footwork and strategy in his fight with eddie. he used his size and distance perfectly. he wasn't an easy target to hit like he's been in the past. the best possible cerrone came to fight last saturday and that version is trouble for anyone.

i think that alvarez showed how tough he is. the size difference was just too much for him IMO. it'll be interesting to see him in his second fight in the octagon. alvarez might need to go to 145.

Weak. Very weak.

Cerrone was supposed to be a favorable match-up. Eddie had strong boxing, and was going to get in Cerrone's face and not let up, just like Nate Diaz did. I even thought this might happen.

Eddie might beat Jim Miller and be the new gatekeeper, but if he can't get by Cerrone, how will he beat Pettis, Gil, etc.?

Alvarez is forkin tiny compared to cerrone.

not surprised he lost.

It was the closest to a freakshow fight we would get nowadays and it was awesome.
