Ya why bother staying ready? Title shots grow on trees

Khabib would be the favourite, but Alvarez would probably be a bigger threat for him than Max, better wrestling and more powerful hands.

He didn't take into account someone tying Tony's shoelaces together.

Given the fight had been cancelled 3 times what was Eddie thinking lol, if there was ever a time to stay in shape this was it. Think he would have had a decent chance against Khabib too, we were robbed of a potential Eddie vs Conor 2 :(

Not gonna lie that was a bone headed move on his part. I love the Underground King, but that wasn't smart at all. He must have forgot the part where this was the FOURTH time this fight was booked. History has shown that this fight is perhaps the only fight in the UFC History that is never a sure thing until both men are in the cage.

Eddie took for granted that this fight is CURSED, so he lost it to a certain BLESSED Hawaiian.

I get kind of losing motivation but not to where you're 190 pounds 3 weeks from the fight.

This. 100%.

Alvarez wanted no part of khabib when he was champ and its still the same now.

Everyone was staying ready.
Now everyones making excuses.

He should have assumed that one of these guys would pull out. This Tony/Khabib fight is never gonna happen. I swear Caitlyn Jenner was still a man the first time they booked it.

He said he was like 190lbs, which is why he couldn't do it in 6 days.

I'm not buying it for a second that he even considered ever seriously stepping in, or he'd have been closer than that. You don't say fuck it 3-4 weeks out if you're serious about being a step in for a belt. Not in this sport.

He's just backpeddling because Khabib called him out on his tough talk.

His first mistake was thinking khabib and Tony were ever going to fight. Don't believe it until they're both in that octagon but even then I'd be highly skeptical.

I don’t blame him. Everyone is a genius in hindsight. It’s a very tough job to build up your conditioning and put in the sparring rounds and starve yourself to drop massive weight when you are actually booked for a fight, can you imagine how hard it is doing all of that with no certainty that you will be fighting? I think he just hit that mental wall.

Not his fault. He shouldn't blame himself.
The injury could've happened 2 days before the event just like the last time when Khabib had trouble with the weight cut and had to go to the hospital.

Eddie was never booked for this fight, so he wasn't mentally ready.

I mean, I know it got cancelled multiple time already, but what were the odds it happened again? I mean really? I fully expected it to happen this time and I'm sure he did too.

I mean I guess, but why talk yourself up saying you're gonna be the replacement if your gonna bail 3 weeks before your big opportunity, I guess he hit the mental wall like you said, but if that was the case, don't say anything in the first place.
