Eddie Alvarez as Champion, who's next? will he defend?

I'll be the first to admit, I didn't see this happening. In fact I was expecting the exact opposite result with Dos Anjos knocking him out early....

So with that said, do you believe Alvarez will defend his title? will he go on a long streak or be cut down immediately? and who would you prefer to see him fight next..

Possible matchups :
Khabib, Ferguson/Chiesa, Barboza (For beating Pettis), Poirer (after another win)

Given his lack-luster (sorry, but it kind of is) UFC run (up until now of course) he still has unfinished business with Pettis who is #7 and Cerrone who is killing it right now at 170... though Pettis will need a win before returning to the mix...

McGregor/Diaz, Aldo/Edgar, and Dos Anjos (though he needs to bounce back imo) could also be possibilities.

My Guess: He fights Khabib.... Khabib wins, and then gets injured during or immediately after the fight... Then Ferguson and Eddie fight for the interim title, but I honestly have no idea after last night

Probably Ferguson. Khabib is either involved in Islam or getting injured to be able to get a shot.

I highly disagree. Watch eddie vs chandler 2 and eddie vs Curran. His cardio is on another level. Khabib has never had a 5 rounder, so its still up for debate.

I do agree however on Ferguson getting the next shot. Hes earned it.

I think Ferguson should get the shot over Khabib. I realise Khabib is a superior martial artist when he is healthy, but that is just so rare an event. It sucks but Khabib has a win over one debutante in that past two and a quarter years. That isn't all Khabib's fault but in the same timespan Ferguson has had six wins with a few of them being good/great names.

Alvarez vs Ferguson would be a fantastic match with a great chance to see the belt change hands yet again.
