Eating Pizza before workout

Not sure how people can train after eating pizza. I feel sluggish and bloated. Now, lifting weights fasted, and eating a whole pizza afterwards, that's a different story!

Its in the mind, after you eat pizza you are soo determined to burn it off, that you end up doing more.
Awesome food if you want to bulk up.

If you have pizza after workout, then it will probably turn to fat.

Oh men, I love Pizza!

Not before training though but a few hours later sure no problem.

From a fitness point of view though I remember Arnold Schwarzenegger said if you eat 2000 calories then you got train and lose 2500 calories a day.

Watch.....

Also every week fast once a day and practice detoxing.

No harm in eating one Pizza a week everyday is a NO. NO!

YES from me though I love Pizza! ;)

It doesn't work for me. I prefer to workout on an empty stomach

Arnold gives an old school answer to losing weight.
But lets say, throughout the day I eat nothing but an apple for the entire day.
Then I do my workouts, once I finished, I burned about 2000 calories.

Now I'm starving, I could eat a horse!
So I munch down hard on 1 pizza which is 2000 calories.
Then I go to sleep.

I wake up and I should have lost weight,
DAILY RECOMMENDED CALORIES for a GUY = 2000
CALORIES EATEN = 2000
CALORIES BURNED = 2000
2000 - 2000 = 0

but actually I didn't lose any weight on the scale.
I gained weight! Then I have breakfast, I weigh myself, I'm even more.
wtf! you said calories in vs calories out.

It actually comes down to insulin level and its complicated as FUCK

In your calculation, you expend 2000 calories a day and eat 2000 a day, so obviously you're not in a deficit and you wont lose weight.

Yes, the body is extremely complicated and insulin levels, genetics, food type, gut bacteria, so on all matters, but you're making it much harder than it needs to be. For most anyone, keeping your calories a little under maintanence for a while will make you lose weight. The body might be complex, but the methods to losing weight are simple.

If you can eat pizza before a workout then you aren’t training very hard.

Bit of protein before
Bcaa with simple carbs after

This is a simplistic view. You burn calories all throughout the day, not just when you work out. And I'm guessing if you don't eat the entire day you're very likely not expending as much energy as you typically would when fueled. Also you are eating an entire pizza and then passing out. If you ate normally you'd be active instead of sleeping right away.

Whats wrong with pizza as a pre-workout meal.

If you break down the food its:

1. Yeast Extract + Flour for the dough ( carbs)
2. Cheese (Good source of Dairy)
3. Tomato Sauce (Good source of potassium)
4. Ham (Good source of protein, even if its processed)
5. Olives (Many different health benefits)
6. Capsicum (Many different health benefits)
7. Pineapple (Many different health benefits)
8. Onions (Many different health benefits)

Ok so we add some oil for cooking, but we do that anyway with pretty much every meal.

Fact: Has alot of:
KJ - Energy !
Carbs !
Protein !

Which is kind of perfect for a few hours before you workout, since you are gonna burn it off anyway.
It is not the best idea because you will let your stomach etc work harder digesting it and combining it with sporting. unless you train like a wuss nothing will happen but when you go intense or work hard you will not feel good. try coffee or something easy digestible like fruits.

I'd almost say the same if you can eat pizza AFTER working out. When I do a really hard workout my appetite's gone for at least an hour or two afterwards--my core temperature has simply become too high and blood has been shunted away from my digestive tract.

Side note... everyone keeps focusing on the carbs, but it's probably the very high fat content in most pizza (oil and cheese) that slows gastric emptying and causes that full/bloated feeling. I cannot eat anything high in fat before a workout. Pineapple without the pizza is a favorite, though.

What about eatting pizza DURING your workout? A slice in between each set. Whatever it takes baby

This very strong looking guy consumes some pizza mid-workout at Planet Fitness and seems to really enjoy it.
