this is kinda a weird question, but i saw this video a few months ago where some pro wrestling guy cups his hands and slaps some reporter guy in both ears at the same time. they said it made the guy deaf in 1 ear. i relize that this may have been scriped or made up, but is it possible to permanently damage someone like this?

Yes. That's how Beethoven went deaf and it can occur from fighting. Shinya Aoki does this in his fights, when he's trying to lock up a triangle he open palm hits both of the other guy's ears in order to make them move their arm.

is it legal in mma?

I've never heard any rules saying it isn't. That'll quickly change if someone goes deaf, I'd wager.

btw, nobody knows how Beethoven went deaf

I've always heard his music teacher would slap his ears to punish him. I'm a jazz musician and was big into the classical scene and it's more or less popular opinion.

the way you phrased it, it made it seem like beethoven did dirty MMA.

I've seen someone pull this off(single handed slap though) in a class. The instructor was pissed off with this loud mouthed Aussie guy, always saying"That won't work"..."Thats no good".Exactly why he actually came along to training I don't know.Anyway, the instructor was demonstrating slaps as a pre-emptive attack and the Aussie guy goes "Thats no use mate.Only Sheilas slap".So he got shown how useful it was when he got slapped..and ended up in hospital with a ruptured eardrum.
