You always see this pattern in most of his fights, where he comes out guns blazing with devastating combos.

Now most of the times he gets the job done but we've seen him struggle vs top fighters such as Alvarez, Gaethje and Holloway.

After dominating in great fashion he starts to fade and wilt under his opponent's pressure and that often leads to him getting hurt. Props to him though for surviving and coming back; and when he does come back he is a much better fighter, calculated, does not waste too much energy as he does in his early flurries and manages to finish his opponent or outstrike him.

I can somehow see him winning vs Khaib even though I do favor the Dagestani fighter, but I do not see him staying champ for long. He basically strikes me as someone who has the skills to win vs any other fighter but also lose to many top tier guys because of his chin and that overaggressive-fading pattern that he has

Something fishy about his performance. Reminds me a bit of TJ. Time will tell I suppose

He did well tonight.

Not the most physically gifted fighter out there, but he is a FIGHTER, through and through.

He smelled blood in max and went for it. He attacks when moments are right. Gastlum could learn from him

He paced himself pretty well other than going for the kill early on. But you cant blame him, Max was hurt bad. He pot shotted the rest of the time and mixed in some wrestling to slow the fight down. Smart fighter.

He stalled the fight by holding a couple of times when he looked to be in trouble. Great fight IQ IMO .

Anyone in his position would've went for the kill, Max just has a ridicolous chin which allowed him to survive. Most LW dudes besides maybe Ferguson would've got knocked out.

Yes I have the same feeling. He get's winded at the end of the 3rd and going into the 4th and 5th. He can't fight like that against somebody like Tony.

Poirier has very Under rated defense and overall boxing technique.

He fought a slick fight tonight, managed to avoid damage extremely well and showed improvements in his game in his 40th pro fight and 23rd or so Zuffa (WME abc wtf gltbq) fight.

He is a fighter and brawler at heart and you can see he wants that finish and may have gassed himself a bit going fornitnin round one, but he did a good job of pacing himself to go 5 with one of the best volume strikers in the game.

All power and Maxs shots didn’t hurt Dustin at all. Just seemed a bit suspect to me
Inconceivable that a FW who doesn't KO FWs would not have as much power as a battle-tested, proven LW vet who stopped Pettis, Eddie, and Gaethje?

He was in trouble a couple of times but grappled and stalled at the right times. Showed great fight IQ tonight

He was never behind in the fight.

Even in his bad moments he still managed to return fire (see the knee that cracked Max's face open).

You can't be conservative against max or he will land those 10 piece meals. Dustin concussed him good and early lol
