Why is Poirier fighting Khabib?

1)Technically, he didn’t even beat Holloway. Max won rounds 2,3,4 and/or 5. All he did was rock Max a couple different segments in a 5 round fifth but he got out punched and backed mostly thru the middle rounds.

2)Holloway is a featherweight, not even a contending lightweight.

3)He couldn’t finish Max, he won’t finish Khabib.

Everyone but you know's he beat Holloway, that's not even up for debate. You need a new tv or a new set of eye's.

If Dustin can make Khabib work without taking much damage. He can win it but I don't think that will happen. Khabib is pretty much set in stone in terms of his style and entries to attacks. He is just so good at them.

Yeah, when a grappler falls in love with his stand up he is putting himself in some very unnecessary danger and Khabib does seem far too willing to stand and trade in recent fights. His corner has gotten on him for this but Khabib seemed to want to just do his own thing regardless.

I don't expect that will be an issue in Abu Dhabi. His father will be in his corner for this fight and he hasn't been in his corner for many years due to visa issues. His father is no nonsense and Khabib listens to him. I don't think that we will be seeing K-1 Khabib against Poirier. His father will shut that shit down and quickly.

Good point on his old man being able to be in his corner... I didn't even consider that being possible. I heard AKA uses his pops to inspire Khabib to follow the GNP game plan.

Yeah, I gave Dustin very little chance, his TDD has never been on the level, and Khabib has a monster chin, he can make some mistakes and still wade his way in for a clinch, which he is the GOAT clinch to chain TD artist ever in MMA. Honestly, think we'll see the best version of Khabib yet in this matchup..
He's going to Abu Dhabi a month before the event to acclimatise, Javier Mendez and Abdulmanap will both be coaching him. The distractions and spectacle which were present in the lead up to the Raging Al ( change of opponent etc ) and McGregor fights will be completely absent..
