Sounds intimate and passionate.
In before, he gets put on his back and mauled.
Dustin gonna bring him into that dark place
Dustin isn’t as big of an underdog as many of you believe. He really has improved. Now can he stop the chain wrestling of Khabib most likely not but he is well rounded and his mma boxing is first rate.
Well, Poirer does have experience of the 'dark place', as you put it.
Dustin’s boxing first rate LOL?
The dude is fun to watch but he gets dropped or hurt in just about every fight. His offense consists of winging hooks and his defense is pedestrian.
Dustin’s best bet is to replicate Conor’s/Als gameplan and try to outwork/catch Khabib in the later rounds. Either that or swing for the fences early like MJ.
It better be halal.
All I’m saying it has improved. Showing footage of old fights doesn’t really work. I am talking about the present. I think his work with Dyah Davis has helped him out. Also I lived in Louisiana for around five years so I’m going to be biased. I would rather see Ferguson vs Khabib just like most people however...
First rate MMA boxing.
(On a side note, how bizarre is that Michael Johnson has wins over Poirier AND Ferguson (AND Barboza)?)
His craft is slightly better but I think that’s more due to developing an actual fight IQ and putting more focus on S&C for LW. He looks much bigger and stronger than he did at FW.
Before Dustin would get hurt and start swinging, now he’s more patient and calculated. When he was hurt/tired against Alvarez, Holloway, and Gaethje he knew when to hang back and recover showing much more maturity.
Plus hurt Khabib the most
What is Dustin talking about.
Khabib has been in every place in the octagon. He has spent alot of time in there.
Yeah... crazy, and now he routinely loses against mediocre fighters at FW...
If anything, it's Poirier that is facing something he never had to deal with before. Who is the best wrestler he faced? Who even went for a TD heavy gameplan against him?
some call it the land of wind and ghosts (my personal favorite)
i hate this generic trash talk. what does that even mean? i'd rather hear Dustin give a dry/technical breakdown of Khabib's weaknesses or something like that
love dustin's mo, only focuses on one fight at a time, not the most exciting guy in the world, him and khabib's press conference was surely a snoozer, nevertheless, looking forward to this one for sure.
The thing is, besides his conditioning (which no one has been able to exploit), Khabib hasn't shown any glaring weaknesses lately (holding his chin up high still hasn't cost him). Obviously the Tibau fight showed the limits of his pure takedowns, but there aren't any guys who have given him trouble since moving to AKA. I still hope Gaethje can string together another win or two and get a chance to test his wrestling against Khabib's.
So you now think Dustin will win?
