Dustin Poirier: "Duffy only fought bums in his boxing career"

Discussion in 'UFC Discussion' started by Bulletproof Acc, Aug 4, 2015.

  1. Just said on the mmahour.

    Full quote:

"Im not here to talk trash or anything, but he's only fought bums in his boxing career. I feel like i could beat those guys in boxing too. Even as a boxer, Duffy doesnt have many ko's in his boxing or mma career. He's got good submissions but i feel like im better there too. If Joe wanna box with me, let's box and put on a show for the fans."

Poirier also made it clear during the interview that he wants to be refered to as the "lightweight champ" from here on now. Because that will be official real soon according to him.

He'll more likely move to ww after another Irish fighter embarrasses him.

Yeah I agree with everything you said. Corny as heck, but I see him being a bit much for Duffy. Who knows, it could be a really close fight.

  8. Post McGregor Poirier is a different animal. I think a rematch would be a foty type of fight. Especially at lightweight.

Yeah we are definitely going to see more guys and gals trying to hype their fights/build themselves up in media engagemnets since Chael and Conor has been so successful at it. The problem is, 97% of fighters are terrible at it and it's just not going to work well for them.

    Awkward.

I got Duffy in this. I not totally sure why, i just feel he's so level headed, calm and humble. 3rd sub imo.

Eh, standing and trading is not the best idea. His boxing isn't that good. Akira was landing good shots on him and he isn't very good. If his chin holds up better at LW we could get a good fight.

I like DDP, but LW is too stacked with talent for him to become champ. I doubt he cracks the top 5. I think the Duffy fight will be action packed, and should give us a better idea of his future prospects at LW.

Of course he is he fought Conor more than one day ago, let me guess.

    1. "completely different fighter"
    2. "had a broken flux capacitor in the first fight"
    3. "dustin was only a kid back then"
    4. "dustin was pretty green"

Give it over man, childish stuff from a good poster.
