In other words, the winner of a fight isn't always the better fighter overall. The winner of the fight is whomever won the fight that night. That's what makes the sport (and sports in general) so great.
It's like in football, if one team loses the Super Bowl and then has players come out and say, "So what, we're still the better team," everyone tells them to shut up and stop whining. But in MMA some people put up with that stupid shit, and people on Sherdog spew it here and there.
The best teams, and the best fighters, are those that CONSISTENTLY win and are CONSISTENTLY the best team or fighter night in and night out. That's why sports seasons are longer than just a game or two.
