Is there any benefit to doing one kind of squat vs the other?
More weight with the barbell, with grip possibly becoming a limiting factor with dumbbell squats.
You'll pretty quickly need to squat more weight than you can find in two dumbbells.
Squatting much weight at all will pretty much require a barbell.
sqatting with a barbell will help you more because of the weight. Not unless you have hooks, with 150 pound dumbbells.
even with the 1 fitty's you will eventually need more weight
go with barbell--establish proper form with lower weight and work up from there
I imagine loading the dumbbells in order to squat them will become a limiting factor over time.
