I'm training on a 3X5 Rep System at the moment, so this question does not affect me directly. I'm just curious.

The perceived wisdom seems to be that regularly(every Big Three Lift)training heavy Singles quickly leads to burn out for all but the most elite athletes. So would regularly working up to a Double be safer, since by defination it would be lighter than a Single? Or would it still be too heavy for week in, week out training?

Because two heavy reps are less demanding than one?

I'm of the opinion that anyone serious about strength training can work up to heavy doubles or singles with proper progression. John Broz is taking high school kids and working them 7 days a week, twice per day, 1RM only and having great results. His point is that most people are not overtrained, they're undertrained. I think he may be on to something.

And as for those Full House twins... did they have work done?
