Going up in weight and winning 1 match doesn’t make you a champion of that division. To be a champ of a division you need to have had multiple fights and work your way up the rankings to a title shot. Or if you move up and win a title fight, you should defend it multiple times to show that you’re actually the best in the division you moved up to.

If the Clemson college football team played the KC Chiefs and won, does it make them the champion of the NFL? No. This new gimmick in MMA is a joke and should have no impact on GOAT status.

Beating Jan blachowicz = GOAT status

deal with it.

I completely agree. Winning a second division is meaningless unless you are able to accomplish anything significant during your reign. I ask for at least one defense, the bare minimum, against a number one contender.

St-Pierre beat arguably the worst middleweight champion of the past decade and refused to defend his championship. It would have been far more impressive to have defended against Whittaker. Similarly, Conor failed to defend either of his belts. Does it really count as a reign if it went undefended?

If Khabib wanted to go up to WW he should face guys ranked outside of the top 20. I’d want to see 4/5 fights before he even faced top 10. If he got to 10-0 then he would have earned his title shot.

It’s only fair. And logical.

Ive always said your never a true champion till you defend your title...

When you Fight\win the belt you dont become a champion, as your introduced as the challenger.. Your not introduced as champion till your next fight...

Therefore you dont actually become champion till you actively defend your belt...wining the belt only gives you a chance start your title reign
