April Bowlby to Play Elasti-Woman in DOOM PATROL in DC Universe Live-Action Series

4HTaHky.jpg

April Bowlby, who plays Rita Farr, aka Elasti-Woman (fka Elasti-Girl), in a guest-starring stint on the upcoming DC Universe series Titans, will reprise the role as one of the leads of the digital service’s follow-up live-action series Doom Patrol, from Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros TV.

Bowlby’s Rita Farr, an actress on the rise, adopts the moniker of Elasti-Woman after she was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among the Doom Patrol.

Jeremy Carver is writing Doom Patrol, a reimagining of the beloved superhero DC characters originally written and drawn by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani. It revolves around Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (Bowlby) and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder aka The Chief. The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

Doom Patrol, which received a 13-episode straight-to-series order in May, begins production this year for a 2019 premiere on DC Universe, the joint venture of Warner Bros Digital Networks and DC Entertainment. It will follow the live-action Titans, slated to debut later this year.

Bowlby, best known for playing Stacy Barrett on all six seasons of Drop Dead Diva, recently was a series regular in Fox drama pilot Gone Baby Gone based on Dennis Lehane’s bestselling book. She just became available after the pilot did not go to series.

Shudve came to MCU

Good for Brendan.

Shame he disappeared for a while.

Heh, Fraser is still too famous not to schlep around in a costume I guess.

Good for him, I always liked the guy.

Good for Brendan.

Shame he disappeared for a while.

Agreed. From what i've read, he had a lot of problems with the child on the spectrum, the divorce and whatnot, and it took a toll. Also probably didn't handle the getting out of spotlight that well. Damn disgusting they rebooted the Mummy without him cameo-ing in it.

Sucks that his first major role is in a shitty studio. Hope this doesn't become Suicide Squad #2.

Not familiar with this property, but it’s an interesting premise. Sounds kinda like Hell Boy and the BPRD.

Alan Tudyk Joins DC Universe's DOOM PATROL Live-Action Series as the Villain Mr. Nobody

H0HIr7G.jpg

The Doom Patrol has found its villain. Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has been cast as Eric Morden/Mr. Nobody in DC Universe’s upcoming live-action series Doom Patrol, from Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros TV.

Written by Jeremy Carver, Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero). Led by the mysterious Caulder, they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg (Joivan Wade). Banding together, these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.

Here is the backstory of Tudyk’s character: After exposure to unknown experiments by ex-Nazis in post-war Paraguay, the man formerly known as Eric Morden emerges as a living shadow able to drain the sanity of others as the enigmatic, and totally insane, Mr. Nobody.

Carver executive produces with Geoff Johns, Berlanti and Berlanti Prods’ Sarah Schechter. Berlanti Productions produces in association with Warner Bros Television.

Tudyk recently co-starred on NBC’s superhero comedy series Powerless and voices a character on another superhero comedy, Amazon’s The Tick. He is repped by Gersh and Coronel Group.

Timothy Dalton Cast as Dr. Niles "The Chief" Caulder in DOOM PATROL Live-Action Series

OYNVulM.jpg

Timothy Dalton is returning to television. The onetime James Bond has booked the leading role in DC Universe's Doom Patrol. The live-action role is Dalton's first series regular gig since he wrapped his three-season run on Showtime's Penny Dreadful in 2016.

Doom Patrol, based on the iconic DC Comics characters, will be written by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), who will executive produce the 13-episode drama alongside Greg Berlanti — the prolific exec producer behind The CW's Arrow-verse — and Geoff Johns.

The drama revolves around superhero outcasts Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Dwain Murphy), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), who are led by modern-day mad scientists Dr. Niles Caulder and Cyborg (Joivan Wade)

Dalton will take on the role of Dr. Niles "The Chief" Caulder, who is described as a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol.

Dalton's TV credits include episodes of Chuck, Doctor Who and minis Hercules and Centennial. On the big screen, his credits include Toy Story, The Tourist, Hot Fuzz and James Bond in The Living Daylights and License to Kill.

DC Universe, the subscription video on demand platform, will launch in September with a slate of live-action and animated originals as well as a library of DC Comics-related TV series and films. Doom Patrol is due in 2019.

Damn, stop getting my hopes up for this show with the casting.

Oh shii...best Bond ever is involved? DC is on the right track.

T-Dal is the man! I love the casting

Came here to write this. The man is a fabulous actor, and Bond fans have him to thank for the franchise’s existence after he saved it, following the late-era Moore silliness.

He’s also a brilliant Mr. Pricklepants.

Damn, his furious, aggressive Bond pisses all over the dour Craig depiction, as well as the thin-wristed smug Brosnan efforts.
