I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut, but I hear that fresh ones pretty much melt in your mouth. Can anyone corroborate that statement?

that sounds disgusting, but i guess ive probably been surprised by a worse sounding item. though i cant think of any ottomh

I'm not a big donut guy, I went out with this chick and there was some "upscale" donut shop she wanted to try, next to the place we went for dinner...

It sounded weird, thought I'd try and it as surprisingly good... Even got me to throw a little srirachi on a peanut butter/honey sandwich every now and then

inb4 complaining about Krispy Kreme and any other major chain and lauding of mom and pop donut shops that put out pretty much the same shit as DD.

A fresh KK shits on anything and if you say they're "too sweet", fuck you. Seriously.

When I was a kid (this was before Krispy Kreme) Winchell's was the bomb.. DD they started 2 years later, and I've never been a fan.

Now days it's tough to KK...

The only complain that people even TRY to make into an actual thesis is that they're "Too Sweet". Oh fuuuuckkkk offf. They're so good. Krazy good bro

Disappointed I haven't seen anyone mention The Donut Bar in San Diego. Went there during comiccon and their donuts are out of control. They have some stuff that stays the same and others that are a revolving menu. Only place I've ever been to where they deserve to be called Artisan Donuts.

dunkin donuts will always hold a special place in my heart.

when I was about 5 I'd watch Twin Peaks and Friday the 13th The Series w/ my dad and he'd get donuts... now that I think about it, that's a bit fucked up have a 5 year old watch.

DD >>> Krispy Kreme

Most Supermarket bakeries > DD

In the Philly area it's Yum Yums and Beiler's (don't fuck with the Amish when it comes to baking).

Yes. The statement is true. When they are fresh and warm, there is little in this world that I know of that is a better tasting snack.

Lakewood House of Donuts cherry donut. My favorite since I was a little kid.

Walmart used to make horrible, dry, hard donuts. They changed something and they now make delicious, soft, chewy donuts.

If you ever find yourself in Chicago check out Donut Bault, Galzed and Infused and Do Rite Donuts.

im sure its delicious, but i'd have a hard time paying more than 2$ for a single donut. even 2$ is pushin it

a fresh krispy kreme most certainly does not "shit on anything". let's not get crazy here - what are the odds that the worlds best donut is from a national chain? they're great. don't get me wrong. but the best?

Bah. Worth every penny. They're huge each one is handcrafted. It's just a little store, honestly. They make a limited amount of everything and it all sells out. Every day.

"what are the odds that something obscenely popular and worth billions is the best of something"

Pretty high

I'm really liking the Reese and Oreo donuts at Tim Hortons these days

Caution: Do not view if you're cutting weight

But still, Krispy Kreme is king for me

Dunkin donuts make mediocre donuts. Plus they make u poop.

They're like IHOP,the food makes you take massive dumps.

This is true, but if I had to choose a KK donut or a regular one for the rest of my life I'd choose a regular one.

I just got back from New Orleans and had a Beignet because everyone said they were amazing. I'll take a donut over one of those any day of the week.

There's one near my house in Orange County. Might have to check it out. What do you recommend?

Appreciating donuts is like appreciating eating butter by the spoonful. Wonderful if you want your partner/kids to collect life insurance, but horrible in any other sense than raw hedonism.

Long life sour cream donuts.

+1 for Beilers. I will post the menu pic I took back in April.

I can. In the late 90s a KK opened in in area where I work. I would drive home late at night and they have a neon sign with a light that flashes when a fresh batch is made. They do melt in your mouth and are especially great when fresh and hot. You know they are empty calories and really shitty food to eat, but there is no denying they are delicious.

Maple Bacon was pretty awesome. They had a Baileys Irish Creme or something when I was there.

The Homer is really popular, because its basically Homers favorite donut given life.

I tried something that I dont even remember the name of. It was like a swirl of chocolate and chocolate chips and some sort of drizzle.

you mean....like McDonalds?

Yes, every popular national chain is McDonalds. Every one of them.
And a lot of people would argue McDonald's has the best fries. But it's impossible because it's a national chain. Impossible.

Even more impossible that a national chain that specializes in one thing and became uber popular because of their potency in deliciousness that has not changed or faltered in decades is the best at something.

DD >>> Krispy Kreme

I agree.

Krispy Kreme is delicious, but it's hard to make a doughnut that isn't delicious. I prefer DD, and I've been to plenty of small bakeries that kick the snot out of Krispy Kreme.

Randy's is the place by the airport. Usually drive by it after picking up my car. It has a big fucking donut outside, you can't miss it.

usually don't venture off to that part of sm. do you have a burrito place you would recommend? i usually go to benito's just cuz it too is just down the street from me.

ok - just making sure i understand you clearly: Krispy Kreme's success is 100% a result of how good they taste, and has absolutely nothing to do with successful marketing strategies, good business decisions, capable people at the lead, and the desire for national expansion / coverage.
