    Name: Kimo Leopoldo
    Gym: Team Kimo
    Record: 10-7-1
    Accomplishments: UFC Superfight Championship Runner-up

Born in Germany, Kimo & family were actually raised in Hawaii. Kimo even at a very young age was a "natural" athlete...a fast runner and uniquely strong during his teenage years, he joined the football and wrestling teams at Waianae High School. His love was for wrestling however, and was the best wrestler in his school which led to them winning the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Championship. He did get a partial scholorship to play football at the University of Washington but left because he felt he was prepared. He moved to Huntington Beach, California and became an, NJCAA All-American but soon afterwards tore both ACL's. In the middle of his depression which followed after this event he met Joe Son, who introduced him Mixed Martial Arts. Then in 1994, it happened. Kimo would enter the UFC, and not just enter it...he would enter a dream match he once claimed was a vision from god a year ago while studying film. It would be against UFC 1 and 2 winner...Royce Gracie. Kimo would enter the match billed as a Taekwondo fighter, hardly anything was known about him other than his obvious profession of being a Christian, as he entered the octagon carrying a huge wooden cross on his back. Royce had barely any competition at this point but would face his toughest match, ever. It lasted 4 minutes and 40 seconds with Kimo tapping out from an armlock but Royce couldn't continue due to exhaustion. It would be considered the best match in the UFC's short history. And it seemingly put a very tiny crack in the wall of invincibility Gracie evidently had built so far. From there Kimo would go on to fight in such organizations such as Pride FC, Cage Rage and even K-1. He faced very tough competitors during these years fightng such legends as Dan Severn, Tank Abbott, Ken Shamrock, Kazushi Sakuraba. He was never one to backdown from a fight nno matter how much larger the opponent was, once even invited to face Masaktke Satake, a good K-1 kick-boxer, he immediately flew down to Tokyp, Japan. He lost via TKo in second round. Kimo retired from MMA in 2006. Kimo is a legend of the sport of sorts, as he was the first fighter toi give Royce Gracie his toughest match and fought very tough fighters from around the globe, out of his 18 professional MMA matches he was outweighed in them 10 times.

Cool fight, very emotional, 10 times better than UFC PVZ vs Waterson full event.

Kimo & Joe Son was such a weird pairing. Also, I think Kimo had a good chance of winning that fight if he had cut off that ponytail that Royce was grabbing.

Best fight he was in was against Paul Varelans....hard to find online, but he was in the best shape he's ever been in, took a beating for 8 minutes then wrecked Varelans in 20 seconds when he gassed.

I remember Royce Gracie only won because he repeatedly pulled Kimo's hair!

I laugh so hard when people say Royce is the best BJJ of all time in MMA...

Finishing people who had no clue about grappling at all...

Royce would get so embarassed against today's grapplers, like Khabib... Maia.... Rory... Jacare...

  15. He was pretty stupid when he ran out to the cage and celebrated with Joe son about losing to royce. Yeah Royce couldn't continue but he still beat you. Only time I've ever seen someone celebrate over a loss.

This is an important notice considering the time of year. Keep your Christmas tree watered and never let open flame any where near the tree.
