    Name: Din Thomas
    Gym: American Top Team
    Record: 26-9
Accomplishments: ISCF World Lightweight Championship, UFC Lightweight Championship Semifinalist

Born in Wilmington, Delaware until the age of 12, the Thomas family moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida where the seemingly born athlete Din Thomas grew up into a multi state star. He decided not to pursue these team sports due to the negativity some of the players portrayed.. After an assault on an ex-girlfriends new boyfriend where he had to spend the year in prison, he decided to train in Jiu Jitsu near a small academy.

He finally started his MMA career Jacksonville Vale Tudo in 1998, where he would go on and have a relatively successful start and compile a 12-1 record while he beat Jens Pulver for the ISCF World Lightweight Championship. In 2001 he entered the UFC, his first match? The veteran and world class legend, B.J. Penn. The stage was UFC 32, Din would lose by a seemingly flawless Penn by TKO. It did not deter Thomas from going forward. He would go on a face the likes of Matt Serra, Caol Uno & Clay Guida. He was a known submission grappler and a blakc belt in BJJ under Ricardo Liborio.

Din Thomas fought in many organizations such as Shooto, Absolute Fighting Championships, WEF and Superbrawl. He was mainly a lightweight but also competed at Welterwieght and Featherweight as well. He was well liked universally by fighters and fans alike for his vigorous submission talents and passive personality. Incredibly durable, Din would have a 15 year MMA career where he ended it in 2013. Din Thomas wil be remembered as one of the best Lightweights in the world in the late 90's and early 2000's, as he competed against the top lightweights and featherweights with relative success. Today Din Thomas is training younger fighters in his home state of Florida.

Always liked Din, absolutely hated when he fucked his knee up against Kenny...listening to Kenny prattle off about finishing fights afterward...ugh.

Still wish we had been able to see him thrash Mayorga.

My favourite Din Thomas moment was when he did the stanky leg after Mayorga gave him a backhand.

Mayorga hypes a fight like no other. I really wish that would have went down. That press conference was hilarious.

There you go. That's good stuff.

Also, there is a "Where are they now" piece on Din Thomas on FP, which shows how he's really gotten into improv.

Always liked Din. It's a shame that (for me) he will forever be remembered for the time that BJ Penn turned him into stone.
