Nice Reebok kit
Those entrances makes UFC events look like fly-by-night promotions...
Meh, you're just another MMA Orientalist. You guys think it's cool because it's Japanese, that's all. If the UFC did this, you'd be deriding it as another instance of evil Dana White turning our beloved sport into a WWE-esque circus.
Was expecting Meisha or Waterson outfit... disappointed bruh
And this ....
I'm all for it. Enjoyed the Te Huna (MIB) entrance. Providing it's not too disrespectful, or goes on for like 15 minutes while the opponent has to wait around then why not.
Nothing will ever be as awesome as the Kakutōgi Boom.
the ufc isn't about flare and unique entrances. they're about bland and boring which is why they make their fighters wear the same outfits when entering the ring. well that and they're greedy pricks.
pride was awesome. and UFC was awesome between 2000-2006 too. but it's been over for, what, almost a decade now?
$1 says TS never had to stay off the internet for a day or 6 to wait for the Pride PPV delay. i wonder, are the DVD's as much fun when you already know what became of the fighters careers, and /or who won each bout?
A personal favorite of mine. Graceful. Great experience to witness in person in London a few years back. Music also makes a change from all the generic rock / metal / hip hop most of the other fighters use.
This is 2015
Very well said. Also, that bridge-troll hag that announces the names haunts my nightmares.
Someone tell that to Rory Macdonald
Of course we do
Personally, I enjoy them more than most new UFC events (UFC189 was amazing tho!). Just my humble opinion.
The aura of Pride was awe inspiring. That's all there is too it.
I'm siding with the OP.
The 'MMA Orientalist' theory is bull. I couldn't care which country promoted it.
If anything, I'm surprised to see Japan went that route instead of the Western World. Given the vast majority of our preferred sports, and fans, are like a over hyped, over commercialized circus anyway. I'm all for an entrance, it adds to the spectacle of a live show. Providing (as I've already stated) they stay short and respectful to the other fighter.
No doubt. Probably complain that UFC's pyrotechnics budget takes away from fighter pay too.
I wish he would sing with the UFC...Dumb fact i just read on Wikipedia...Kharitonov graduated from a high school with a specialization in music (accordion). lol, can't picture him playing an accordion, but i sure as f*ck wouldn't make fun of him for it.
Of course I miss those days.
However posting anything about Pride on Sherdog gets these bros up in arms.
