Reading the threads since Saturday you would think that Cain had entered hallowed MMA ground. As good as he looked this weekend we need to remember that he's only fought 2 guys in 3 years. He's got a long, long way to go before he can be considered a prolific champion. His next opponent, Fabricio Werdum, is a different animal then JDS and Bigfoot. Totally different skill set than either of those guys. I highly doubt it will be the cakewalk that many people think it will be.

Will it be too soon to annoint him if he finishes Werdum?

You know, giving him 3 finishes over two guys who finished Fedor.

Or will they be 'washed up' and it will always be 'too soon'?

He's going to throttle Werdum. Round 3 finish. This Werdum trollage is over come 2014.

Right. If he beats Werdum Cain's GOAT end of discussion. He'd not only have beaten both Fedor killers at HW he'd have the title defense record and beaten the only guy who's beat him twice.

Lol the werdum fight is a joke.It wont go to the ground.
Cain will do the same thing that he did to JDS EXCEPT Werdum doesn't have JDS's chin and will get KO'd sooner.

I expect his success to continue but I don't see it being a foregone conclusion, simply for that fact that it's the heavyweight division and stability is hard to come by. IF anyone can lock down the division, it's him, but I can't put the same confidence in him that some people are. I think his next few fights are going to be very interesting.

My thoughts exactly. Cain is a really dominant fighter and I expect him to win against Werdum, but a KO can happen really quickly in the heavyweight division, you only need to look at his first fight against JDS.

Cain is certainly good, but he does have that one loss. He needs to fight many more top guys for many more years and remain undefeated to be considered great. By that point he could be in an Anderson or GSP level.

The one loss to JDS will always be a black mark. It's proof that he is vincible. For example, no one knew if Fedor was beatable by any human for 10 years until the Werdum fight.

But Fedor never lost his whole career until the end. Cain will always have that one JDS loss that can't be erased. Even if he goes undefeated for another decade, he can never catch Fedor's (pre werdum) invincibility.

I'm not going to count out Werdum. I thought the Fedor vs Werdum fight was going to be piece of cake for Fedor considering back then Werdum's stand up was worse than it currently is and Fedor had fought plenty of top caliber BJJ guys like Big Nog and did not have problems on the ground. In Fedor's defense he did look like the better fighter until he got what looks to be too comfortable and a bit sloppy while going for the kill on the what seemed be a dazed and hurt Werdum. Werdum baited him well and was able to lock in that triangle/armbar tight and once someone of Werdum's caliber gets a hold its pretty much game over no matter who you are. I'm sure Cain's camp will watch this fight over and learn from this to not make a similar mistake and get too excited or sloppy if he does end up in the ground with Werdum.

It will be a totally another fight against Werdum. He need another game plan as he fought fighters like JDS and Bigfoot.
But Cain is a great athlete and i think he's very able to adjust his game plan on way to defeat Werdum.
Anyway i will be excited when e stand against Werdum, i'm curious how Cain will perform.
Hopefully he can recover in a reasonable quick time to put him on the schedule.

Thats your view,Cain himself has been wobbled in a few fights, and KO'd once, anything can happen, especially at HW

Also after he cleans out the HW division, it will be the 'weakest division eva'!!

well just let us know when we can cause he just beat 1of the best hw in ufc history and smashed bigfoot twice and he almost beat werdum and jds killed werdum
