Has someone ever really believed that he could stand a chance against the elite of the WW division? Like seriously?

Ok he may have good grappling, and he sure has power in his hands, but his technique looks awful. In his last fight against Hathaway all he did was throwing haymakers while chasing him around. well I might be wrong but doing this against guys like Hendricks or Lawler may get him into some serious trouble. Anyway I don't even see him getting a title shot, it's just that I don't understand how your technique can look so bad when you train so much

You should step into the cage with him and show him how it's done.

Semi-related note:

Why in the blue hell is Demian Maia ranked above DHK?

DHK's on a 4 fight win streak (and the latest two being very good performances). Maia is... well, Maia - most recently 2 boring ass losses and 1 boring ass win.

Well he beat Matt Brown and The Immortal was gonna get a title shot if he won his last fight, so DHK realistically is a contender, yes,

he threw most technique out the window to bang, seems pretty obvious ts...

that elbow on hathaway was beautiful though, great technique there...

Hespect the Dong Bomb

He seems pretty well rounded to me. Also pretty athletic, big, strong, fast, can go 5 rounds, etc.

He comes from a judo/bjj background and his grappling has always been solid. I think his striking technique will only get better with time, it might be lacking, but Silva/Hathaway are pretty solid.

I don't know anyone (apart from his rabid nationalistic fans) who considers him a 'contender.' He's Top 15 at WW, and only barely. He's slow, his striking is plodding and wild, his grappling is about nullifying instead advancing or finishing. He just isn't that good.

War Dong! Win or lose he always brings it, and that can't be said of all top WW's.

Dong Hyun Kim hits 10 times harder than Ivan Drago.

Yikes, what a shit post.

Oh come on. If he was still content to just lay on people and not finish them at a high level, people on here would be saying he could be champ like Khabib or Shields before him.

All I know is that before that Maia v. Shields card, NOBODY on this forum thought Kim would defeat Erick Silva via KTFO.

NOBODY

about 30 pages of Sherdog going crazy after bearing witness to the fell emergence of Savage Dong.

I think Savage Dong is cool and would like to see him move up the rankings with a vicious knockout of Tyron Woodley, which may or may not happen.

If this dude actually becomes a threat on the feet (his last two KOs were a little wild, but they were something we hadn't seen much of from him) he will be a very dangerous fighter.

Not to mention he has already beaten some really good guys. No reason he couldn't be a contender.

He only looks like he has no technique because he has taken on a new style of fighting which he has never used before, just to be more exciting.

I am not saying he is a bad fighter, and sure he has become exciting. I just don't see him beating anyone in the top 5 fighting like he fought in his last couple of fights

I would still watch him fight though but it would be a mistake to consider him capable of taking the belt

his new 'exciting' style is going to get him KO'd sooner rather than later... hopefullly he'll reign it in a little in upcoming fights... i like watching it, but nearing the top of the division there are punchers that'll take him out no problem if he fights so wild
