I actually was before the fight started. I told my friend who was watching with me: “so he’s gonna look tired, and look like shit; but then he’s gonna win”. My friend was still shocked in the end when DDP got the finish, but I was just impressed. I can’t remember when we last saw a champion with as much heart as DDP. The guy won’t give up no matter what you throw at him; seems to have an iron chin, and serious power late in the fight. He always shows up looking the part with his physique, and besides the Strickland fight, hasn’t left much doubt in his fights. Can he remain a long-term champ? Or is there someone who can take his title relatively soon? Just wondering.

I was going to say that the 'waking up in silk sheets' cliche is a big threat to Dricus' long-term championship prospects because his sheer determination is what is winning him fights.

But I won't say it because I remembered that even U Fight Cheap champions can't afford silk sheets.

Ya same here, & it's comical that some think Strickland wins the rematch. A guy who will just jab & kick isn't the guy who beats DDP.

I know people don't like Strickland, but last night made Sean's performance against DDP look even better imo.

Well, if you apply MMAth, it's logical considering the outcome of Strickland vs Adesanya.

I was impressed with the sheer number of attempts, and their ferocity, of the flurries he threw late in the fight while looking GASSED.

But I stopped counting him out, ever, several fights ago. This fight, I remember thinking several times "Welp, Izzy is starting to run away with it now, and DDP has nothing in return and looks gassed", LOL and I still suspected he'd land a shot or two and put Izzy on his heels.
