My Aunt has a PHd in Bio Chem and has been trying to get her US citizenship ever since she kicked herself out when her visa expired and the uni she was hired by fucked the paperwork up. While I don't see this as a bad thing, I feel we should prioritize people with higher educations who can potentially benefit American society on a plethora of levels. This is a slap to the face for people who've been waiting in line for years up to over a decade just to get their foot in the door. Bring the doctors, scientists, engineers, and teachers we got enough general labor workers to go around.

lol have you ever worked with a highschooler? the only one that I've ever worked with who pulled his entire weight and took every single shift that was available was a Vietnamese kid and he's over here getting 30-40k a year from the US government's tax funds to go to pre med school at UC Davis. Hell even the people I've worked with who were us born with undergrad shit degrees in journalism, liberal arts etc, were still lazy as fuck. I'm an ex con, went and got a job at goodwill because I was unhireable for most of my adult life and the only people who actually showed up for their first shift were all immigrants. I don't think you've ever been around someone with a 3rd world country mentality, this vietnamese kid would rather die then take anything but a A in his studies, my boys dad can't read or write english, or hindi, nor did he make it past the 3rd or 4th grade but through his perseverance and yearning to be anything but mediocre he has been able to amass somewhere in the range of a high 8 figures to a low 9 figures. Dude came to the US when he was 14 without a single dollar to his name and literally grinded to get to where hes at but this dude works 12-20 hours straight with maybe a 10 minute lunch break in there. He's out here rebuilding and refinishing houses from he frames up in 2 months while other people are out here taking 1-2 years do accomplish the same work. I've yet to witness the same type of work ethic in anyone born in America.

Legal immigration is fine, especially if you are targeting talented people/workers to come here and work.

I've looked into moving to the US, and it seems tedious but I tend to agree with your post and feel like that's how it should be everywhere. However, if you have no degree it seems almost impossible to get in so I also feel bad for those sorts of people who just want to live in a safer place but haven't had the opportunity to get some sort of acceptable degree.
