Donald Cerrone vs. Rick Story

Discussion in 'UFC Discussion' started by copyandpasteguy, Aug 3, 2016.

  1. Who's winning this fight?

Cerrone is 2-0 now at WW, but this is a step up in competition
    Story looked good against Saffiedine.

Story body punching a problem for glass body Cerrone?

After seeing the way Cerrone absolutely destroyed Côté, I'm not betting against him.

Cerrone, but this is a dangerous fight for him
Story is a stylistic nightmare for Cerrone to be honest - All of the things he does well are things that Cerrone has historically strugged against
I just think Cerrone is the more talented guy
He wins or loses this fight based on how well his step-in and intercepting knees are working

I'm rooting for Cerrone though I'm a fan of both.

Story has alot that can threaten cerrone. He has power, mean bodywork, a strength advantage, a good clinch, and is durable. I really think Cerrone has to win this fight from the outside and be very slippery in any clinches. Alot of jabs, knees to the body when Rick is advancing, leg kicks, and some body work of his own.

It should be a good fight.

    Let me be very clear.

Story and Cote are 2 completely different animals. Keep that in mind when handicapping this fight.

Not an easy one to pick.

story wins in my opinion with brute strength, pressure, and nasty body shots.

Story will bully him. People massively overrating Cowboy as usual.

Cote is cool and all, but he's probably not a top 20 WW. Story is top 10.

not to mention Cerrone is a bit weak to the body and no one goes to the body more than Story.

I like Story in this one. Now that Maia is being taken seriously as a contender, Story is now the dark horse of the division in my opinion. Cerrone can threaten anyone in just about every facet, but he is not durable enough to survive against Story in my opinion. I feel that Story will have a wrestling advantage but I feel that he'll more or less use his wrestling in conjunction with his striking to increase the efficaciousness of his offense since Cerrone isn't exactly the type of guy that people will unload on from top position. I'm really looking forward to this fight.

I want Cowboy to win this, but at WW I feel like he will be the underdog in every fight which is deservedly so. He's a tall guy no doubt, but these guys are still going to be the heavier fighters come fight time most of the time. I picked Cote to win and was pleasantly surprised but again, I don't have the confidence to pick Donald over Rick hopefully he can get another win though. After that he should get a top 10 and then we'll see how he really does. Provided he wins of course.

Cowboy has the advantage in the striking and submissions but Story is a big dude and a grinder, I think this will end in a close decision, I have no prediction to who wins.

I am hoping Story will be able to over power him but I bet Cowboy wins.

I have nothing against Rick Story, but ever since the Maia fight I root for him to get choked to see if brains come out his nose again.
