Don’t forget, you have to beat the champion convincingly.

theres no clinching a split decision against the champion, especially one of a decade. You have to put do it convincingly.

Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. The rules are the same for everyone. Reyes won that fight, and he did it convincingly by winning AT LEAST 3 rounds. There is no fucking way Jon won any of those 3 rounds. Zero chance. None.

Wrong. You just have to win 3 rounds. That's literally the rules.

also don't forget, jones controlled the whole 5 rounds and kept the pressure, and reyes was pretty much done in round 3

It’s true but it shouldn’t be. Nothing in the rules says you have to win without a doubt against a champion. A win is a win, even if it’s close. Judging criteria shouldn’t change because one fighter is the champion.

Stupid boxing myth that has no place in mma. Not only is it dumb but it's been proven many times that the challenger wins close fights as well.

Yeah that’s definitely true, like in football, you have to score at least 2 more goals than your opposite team if they’re the champs.

Oh wait, no you don’t, you just have to win.

No you don't ...

You just need to win 3/5 rounds like any other five round fight.

I thought JJ lost the first three and it looks like most others did as well. Its possible the Judges gave him one of the third for Octagon Control. The judging was horrible all event........

That not in the rules, are you advocating MMA to be even more of a pseudo sport? Imagine if in the NBA final you had to beat the former champion by 20 points or more if you win by just 5 it doesnt count and the losing team wins the championship. Great idea

Everybody knows to beat the champion you have to knock him out, take his lunch money, draw a dick on his forehead, fuck his bitch and sleep in his bed. Otherwise the jud

Jones for the W..... Let the record books reflect yet another victory for Jones.

That rule had always been silly to me. If anything the opposite should be true. A champ shouldn't eek out a win

By that logic - and I'm kinda joking here at 6 am - the challanger actually also shouldn't eek out a win as he would become a champion that way, and the champ shouldn't eek out a win... lol

So this rule is a paradox and is indeed dumb.

Yeah, retards love to make up rules as they go in order to justify their boyfriends failures

You have to beat the champ because the judging system is so broken.

stfu, that's an old boxing myth. You must think black belts have to register their hands as weapons too

“To be the man, you have to beat the man.” RF

I met Rick Flair last week in Miami. Dude is always on even when the cameras are off. He’s Rick Flair on and off camera. It was great lol.

No, fuck that giving the champion a handicap bullshit like it's amateur golf/bowling. Jones lost rounds 1, 2 and 3. Very clear 48-47 win for Reyes.

You obviously do not understand how this works. The winner of the fight leaves with the championship regardless of how close of a fight it may be. Being a champion does not entitle that fighter to any special or preferential treatment regarding the rules or scoring because that would be unfair and discriminatory towards the challenger.

Don't stop him. He's on a roll.
