There really was no need for an immediate rematch. Chris wasn't a long time reigning champ, the fight wasn't some close decision that could have gone either way and there are other legitimate contenders in line.

I mean they literally tried to sell this fight on the lazy spinning kick that Chris threw and how that altered the outcome of the fight. LITERALLY. Like these s for real? So mistakes (and how fighters capitalize on said mistakes) alters/decides how the fight turns out? You don't fucking say. I hope not. He needs to get in line, it isn't like he made it to a close or split decision or arguably won against Rockhold. But, really, Weidman is a liability for main events. Lame schtick, repeated fight cancellations due to injury - just like Cain (though, admittedly, Cain isn't saddled with dumb schtick, so he has that going for him, which is nice).

Just like Cain, Ronda, Fabricio. The only recent title loss I can sort of understand might have been an immediate rematch for Aldo, given the way the fight went.
