Does the UFC have another option than Cain in Mexico?

The reason UFC wants to undermine all of ist legitimacy and give Cain the most undeserved rematch in UFC history is, as everybody knows, the Mexican market.

But it's not (just) some abstract Mexican market but the fact that they want to hold at least one big event per year in Mexico. That's what is necessary to develop a market.

The next opportunity to do so is either June or October/November. This is the reason why they are rushing the title shot. If Cain wins the title until February he can fight again in June. Or he should win it at least until July in order to be able to go to Mexico in November.

If they have Cain fight someone else, say in Nov. or Dec. he won't win the title after that fight and be ready until June (would be 3 fights in around 6 months). He would have to win it until May in order to defend it in November. But let's be honest he has never made it to 4 fights in a row w/o injury. And that is what would be necessary (Werdum, contender fight, Werdum, title defense in Mexico).

So if we want to know if there is even a small chance the UFC might do the right thing and give someone else the title shot and have Cain fight at least one contender fight we have to see if there is any other option for the UFC to headline a card in Mexico.

Who could headline a PPV or at least another big event in Mexico? Honestly, I don't see another option. Gastelum is far from there. This would mean that the UFC is most definitely going with Cain for the next title shot. Do you see an alternative?

They have a few guys from TUF, such as Marlon Vera, and the rest. Their biggest prospect for the next Mexican star is Yair Rodriguez, but he is very green and requires a few years of build time to get him into the Top 10. I suspect they'll try and ride the Cain train for a while, until a new Mexican star is ready to be pushed into the spotlight.

Barao was much more dominant than Cain, super long unbeaten streak, several title defenses, champ for years, considered p4p #1. Cain had two defenses, years of layoff, was nowhere near p4p etc

Rest of your list are not rematches.

Gus vs Cormier is a rematch? Chael vs Bones was a rematch? The first Serra/GSP fight was.....a rematch???

Not because he has a rematch clause in his contract?

No, it cant possibly be that

LOL

Why bend over backwards with a place with no money and no sport loyalty.

Marlon Vera is Ecuadorian.

Gastelum was supposed to be their Cain replacement. He got a big initial reaction and then flopped. He didn't have the charisma, he kept missing weight and his fights have been boring.

If Gastelum would have been a big success in Mexico, you wouldn't see UFC trying so hard with Cain and giving him another title shot.

They're waiting to sign Alexa Grasso and Irene Aldana. Grasso just pulled out of an Invicta title fight due to injury, and Aldana just lost a title fight, so they'll be waiting to sign them for a little longer. Both have sizable followings in Mexico.

Would Mexico really not show up for something like...

MAIN: Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit (UFC Welterweight Title)
CO-MAIN: Cain Velasquez vs. Stipe Miocic (Title Eliminator)

Don't understand why you NEED Cain headlining.
