Serious question.

We know that footage of fighters is very important for trainers to study. So Im wondering if the UFC has a protocol to do this? Do they have a database full of everybodies fight which they provide to the trainers to study?

Specially regional fighters who don't have much footage....Im sure these regional fighters send in tape of themselves or the UFC found tape of them, so do they provide this tape to the trainers who are going to have one of their fighters face this up and coming regional fighter?

Or does the UFC not give a shit at all?....Do trainers need fight pass and google the opponent fights in order to find out about how the opponent fights?

Im just wondering...I was always interested in this.

I think they use fightpass, because I remember on the UFC countdown show for the Mendes vs Conor fight.. Mendes was watching some fights of Conor with his team and he said we are checking out fightpass to view some recent fights.

Yes I think I saw that too...I wonder if it's a free fight pass or if they have to buy it separately.

It must suck for fighters who havn't fought in the UFC yet tho.....I guess the trainers have to google shit and find the fights if the UFC doesn't provide them.

I imagine it's not to difficult for trainer to aquire footage of there fighters next opponent.

It's pretty easy to find footage of just about every current fighter and their past bouts as long as you know how to Google. That being said, I really doubt the UFC provides any content to their fighters. It's up to the camp to prepare their fighters for the fights, not the UFC's.

Some of the trainers are old men tho, not sure if they know how to google efficiently.

Well the UFC has footage, they can give it to both camps so the fights will be more interesting.

I don't know if they get it for free or they have to pay, but I wish I got it for free haha :p . Some fighters claim they never ever watched their opponents, but I always think they are lying to make their opponents think they are under prepared. I am pretty sure 99% watch the guy they are matched up next with beforehand.

I think fight pass is free for all on the UFC roster. But really TS, It's a great question.

Obviously, ZUFFA and the UFC do not want fighters violating copyright laws put in place to protect their content from the average viewer, so I'd imagine if it's zuffa owned content that's being requested by a zuffa employee (Or contracted fighter if you will) I assume Zuffa will oblige in providing said content for fighters. however I myself cannot be sure.

the ufc actually leases all the content to reebok and the fighters have to buy the footage of fights from reebok.

They could, but I'm sure they don't. Plus all those old dudes probably have grandchildren who are Google aficionados. And if the UFC supplied footage then those old dudes would be lost anyway.

but seriously, given how available free content of fights are i dont think fighters or trainers struggle to find fight footage of opponents.

I think it's a great question TS, and I like RockyLockridge's response/theory. It's the most plausible scenario in my view.
