Does the IBJJF hate Black Belts? Seriously?

    This is a serious question!

They make it so you have to have some ID to compete, they make it a pain in the ass to get it because they take forever even when you harass them about it which I did. Then they close registration early JUST FOR BLACK BELTS!!!

I just got my membership ID approved after a while today, then I go to register fr the No-Gi Pans and REGISTRATION FOR BLACK BELTS IS CLOSED. ONLY FOR BLACK BELTS. I checked reg for lower belts and they can still register. Registration was suppose to be until Sept. 25th at 11:59 pm. I go to register this evening after I finally got the ok to do so and then I get rejected.

On top of that they still haven't updated the athlete list since 9/18 and there is no one on the list. I'm sure there is more but it look bare and hardly any for black belts.

I mean I enjoy the tournaments but they make the registration process a pain in the ass.

First time I ever complained like this on a forum but this is stupid a hell.

I went thru a similar situation, it took me a few weeks to get my card. I got it so I could compete, But decided not sign up for the Pans....closing early for black belt only is really stupid bro...the exp. date on them is kinda dumb too. In 2012, I must have to re-go thru the entire process again...really?

ughh, it is frustrating for sure.

I hope they get all the "kinks" ironed out soon before they alienate their black belt population.

I hate the fact that they haven't updated the athlete list. Makes me freakin paranoid.

My black belt instructor didn't compete in the IBJJF Chicago because he couldn't get his IBJJF card figured out in time. He was pretty disappointed.

would it be wrong to say that they just want barra guys to compete?

if it is then i retract my above statement.

or to put it mildly, bjj politics is involved?

I don't think my coach has even gotten his card (might not have ever even asked for it, as he doesn't compete much anymore). But it makes me content to stay brown.

just kidding....that sucks. Hopefully they get everything ironed out.

maybe you ought to give them the benefit of the doubt and this is all due not to them disliking black belts but just huge incompetence,
