I am wondering does the state of Tennessee still have a athletic commission or have they since changed licensing of fighters to a department of licensing & regulatory affairs. The reason I ask is UFC has a event coming up in Nashville during the month of March or April and there was talk of no commission in Tennesse after July of 2016.
looks like they have one, but as of 2016, it falls under the jurisdiction of commerce and insurance- “Chapter 115 Tennessee Athletic Commission Act of 2016” establishes the Tennessee Athletic Commission as attached to the division of Regulatory Boards within the department of Commerce and Insurance. https://www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/athletic.html
They have gone to countries with no commission before and acted as their own commission with ??? the president of the ABC (does the fights at Mohegan Sun) as commissioner. Can't see why they wouldn't do a state that didn't have one.
USADA was still in effect as well as the UFC acting as its own commission. I believe they used NSAC standards. Someone tested positive for a show in the UK. Pretty sure it was Chris Leben (That was pre USADA though)
