Its hard to see him win at this point with age and injuries. But lets say he does beat Weidman and take his belt back. Will that move him past Jones again? If so, by how much?

It would be a feel good story...only to be ruined by the forums.

    I say no.

Without a doubt. Coming back to regain the title at 40+ would be amazing.

    Probably not.

He'd still have lost to Weidman twice.

Although if he won, I'd personally say that Weidman would be the biggest win of his career.

Who says he lost that status? Just because an older champ is beat by a much younger contender, doesn't suddenly mean the new champ eclipses the old champs entire legacy. Weidman has a long way to go before he surpasses Silva.

You could make a strong argument for it, but I personally don't think a win over Weidman would give him goat status.

Silva doesn't have to reclaim anything.

Sure. If he doesn't win by KO.

    KO's doesn't count, I learned that from Silva - Weidman 1.

He still is the MW GOAT, Weidman needs more wins to pass him. Around 3-4 more should do it considering the state of the MW division now compared to Anderson's reign.

If he makes a comeback at 40 I would have to say yes, talk about his competition in the past all you want but you can't deny this man doing something like that at the very end of his career after an injury like that and against an opponent like that. It's extremely unlikely he would pull it off and kind of silly he even gets the title shot with a win over Nick fucking Diaz but when Diaz is involved unwarranted titleshots are a given so...

He never was NOT the GOAT. Jones even corrected Anik when Anik suggested Jones was P4P best, which is still not GOAT level. Silva is still the GOAT.

I do not count Silva's losses to Weidman, GSP's loss to Hendricks, or Fedor's losses against them much. Their prime is a better indication of their mastery of fighting than their decline imo.

    This.

Nothing like going 1-2 against a guy to reclaim one's GOAT status.
