Floyd hasn't finished a guy in how long? If he's so great, he'd be taking care of business. Say what you will, but Ronda dominates the best females in her sport and is leagues above her competition. Floyd cherry picks guys and then point fights them. Floyd may be the best sports competitor in combat sports, but best fighter? Get out.

It's really a debate on whether doing better then reasonably imaginable in two fights against fighters who likely don't rank in the top 500 MMAist vs Floyd beating Maidana and Pacman where Manny was considered the #2 P4P MMAist.

Based on the level of competition, JBJ should be far, far ahead of Ronda.

If the award is solely based on performance without context then Ronda is the easy winner, looking only at context Floyd wins this by a mile. Combining context and performance and you can make a case for either.

What I feel more strongly about is Ronda winning best female athlete over Serena. When Senera won 3 (or 4, not sure when the voting period was) grand slam titles in a row and is competing so often and against such a deep talent pool that it's really hard to say that any athlete is better then her.

You have valid points but you also forget context about Floyd. Mayweather's current stock in media is pretty much shit because of domestic violence issues.

More context about Ronda aswell: When comparing her to Serena, the difference really is about mainstream media perception to the athlete. Ronda is championing this strong female - feminist shit, talking shit about owning Mayweather and that just tickles the boxes of many people outside the general ESPY-audience.

Im not even a floyd fan dude.Im just a guy struggling to understand how someone could watch a Floyd fight and a Ronda fight and then somehow come to the conclusion that Ronda is the more skilled fighter between the two.

Knockout/finish percentages don't mean shit in terms of ability and skill.Boxing HW champ Deontay Wilder has like a 97% knockout rate(out of 35 pro fights)going by your rationale Deontay must be a better fighter than Mohammed Ali LOL.
