His guard is fantastic but I can't recall seeing him spend much time on top?

We don't see it that often cause Nate doesn't go for takedowns too often.

209. Ya know?

Nate doesn't try to take anyone down because he ain't no bitch

Is funny even fighting guys like Guillard where he has a huge edge on the ground and a clear path to win there he will stand and throw punches until he turned Melvin into a wrestler

It looked pretty good when he used it the last time

But I get what you are saying.

Nate's (and Nick's) top game is limited because of his lack of strength, imo. He is very good at inching his way up to lock in a guillotine, but he's not exactly Shields when it comes to securing the mount. Of course, on the bottom, Shields is limited submission-wise.

He's a black belt in bjj so I'd imagine his top game isn't too bad.

Probably very good based on credentials of the guys he rolls with (Nick, Jake, Kron, etc). In his division though Nate isn't one of the biggest/strongest so if it goes to the floor he's not very likely to transition/reverse to top control. Plus the Diaz brothers rarely go for take downs where they could transition from top control in someone's half or full guard. I've seen a few judo tosses from them here and there but they otherwise like to stand and bang.

My arms get tired when I stand and bang, I find the ground to be more comfortable.

No, TS. It's soft. Nick and Nate are good from their back. Jake is best from top control. David Terrell had both a bottom and top game.

I've never seen Nate or Nick shoot a double on a person in my life.

I think both Nick and Nate like to stand and bang. They are excellent boxers with very unconventional styles that works for them. Not to mention having pretty solid chins. They use their BJJ when needed like when taken down. They aren't typically the ones looking for the takedown. I just think they are comfortable wherever the fight may go, and they just go with the flow. That is why you see them mostly trying to stand and box because they see themselves as the top boxers in MMA. Whether that is true or not is a matter of opinion I guess.
