I always thought of him as a dangerous puncher, ever since his TUF days.

I don't think he hits THAT hard, he's just very fast and can put volume on you with decent accuracy. Speed alone can kill sometimes.

Tibau KO was fucking impressive though. Definitely not suggesting that he's got pillow hands or anything.

Not really. He has average power. He just has quick sneaky counters. Thats probably his best tool.

Not really, no. But speed is both of their best weapons, so there is a comparison.

If you watch when he rocks guys, it's usually helped by the fact that he can throw 2 or 3 strikes before you've even had a chance to throw 1, and it's that 2nd or 3rd shot that you don't see coming that will get you.

Too bad he's gassing when the rounds go on. Just like the Dariush fight.

Part of power is SPEED. Drop a 100 lb weight on your foot from an inch above and then repeat from 5 feet above. The added SPEED will add POWER!

Is his style of fighting somewhat similar to Bobby Green?

Too bad the judges screwed him badly, I would've liked to see him vs Pettis.

Mike trained with us up until after his TUF Finale fight. I can tell you from personal experience that Mike has unusual power for his size. That was a little bit of his problem when he first started fighting for the UFC. He was loading up on his power shots, which was causing him to get taken down easily. This was surprising to us at home, because more than anything, Mike was always exceptionally hard to take down. He'd stuff takedowns from guys with MUCH better wrestling pedigrees.

Now that he's started throwing punches for volume, sitting down on his shots rather than getting ahead of his feet, his TDD looks great again.

Not underrated, maybe overrated, I think he is sold how he should be in terms of power.

He hit Dariush with a ton of shots without ever coming close to finishing him, so I'd say not. He is very quick/fast but he landed 80+ shots without really coming close to finishing, that doesn't seem like great power.

He actually reminded me a little of the Diaz brothers... southpaw, lots of jabs and tons of volume of punches, very few kicks, mostly pushing forward and chasing. Pretty similar to a lot of Nick's fights minus the taunting.
